Maroo KOPE - Leather Folio for Microsoft Surface 2 and RT - Black

For the cost it is fine. There is not really much available for the RT. I wish it had some kind of a closure. Sometimes it falls open in my backpack and that drains the battery.

I did not read the description carefully enough to notice that it ONLY fits the Surface RT. My bad. They took it back, for a restocking fee. :(

This product fits my Surface RT perfectly. The different ways to set up my tablet is nice. One thing that would make this product better for me is a pocket to slip papers into.

Pros: Good looking, sturdy and lightCons: Terrific for Surface 2s that are used as laptops or as tablets, but not both.On looks alone this item ranks five stars. It's handsome and has a soft leather feel. The stitching is simple and clean, and the folio incorporates a necessary crease as a single stately adornment. Its neat design seems durable and the folio weighs just under a pound. Unfortunately, how you use your Surface 2 will determine the types of flaws you encounter with the folio.There is an opening in the back of the folio for the rear camera and its indicator light. Convenient until you realize any video you are shooting may have missing or muffled sound. The opening does not expose the rear microphone leaving it hidden behind the wall of the folio. This is not the folio's greatest flaw. If you're not a big video shooter or prefer to shoot video from the forward camera this misaligned opening in the folio might be easy to live with since the folio is still a handsome and sturdy accessory. In addition, I am willing to consider that the folio I purchased was flawed in that respect and that openings on all other folios are perfectly aligned. A caveat goes here then: snap your Surface 2 into the folio to make sure the opening at the back is wide enough and in the right position to expose both the rear camera lens and the rear microphone.If you use a keyboard/cover with your Surface 2, however, a new problem arises. Without the folio, it is easy to swing an attached keyboard/cover behind the Surface 2 for tablet use, or swing it forward again for use as a laptop or to protect the screen when the Surface 2 is not being used at all. That's the Surface 2's design, a simple flip and you have a swift transition between laptop and tablet modes. Install the Surface 2 attached to a keyboard/cover into the folio and that convenience ends. When flipping to tablet mode, the thickness of the folio pops the keyboard/cover out of its Surface 2 socket as you swing both folio cover and keyboard/cover behind the device. Quick reflexes and dexterity will keep the keyboard/cover from bouncing on the floor but that is more juggling than the Surface 2 designers may have had in mind. The safest solution would be to remove the keyboard/cover from both Surface 2 and folio first if want to fold the folio cover back for tablet use, which ends simple and swift transitions.One might argue that as the folio has room for the keyboard/cover attachment and secures two of its corners with elastic bands that it isn't designed for users who want their Surface 2s to behave as tablets. It's designed for the laptop user. That's a valid consideration, and if that is the reason you bought a Surface 2 then buy this folio. As mentioned, it will do a fine job of protecting your Surface 2 from the ravages of everyday use and look good while doing it.If you wish to have the Surface 2 for tablet use alone, without a keyboard/cover, then this folio would still be a sound purchase. Without a keyboard/cover to protect the screen of your Surface 2, the folio would do the job securely, stylishly and flip out of the way easily for tablet use.Bear in mind that in either case there might still be an issue with using the rear camera and microphone for recording videos with sound because of a misaligned opening, but, again, if shooting video with the rear camera isn't your concern, or the misalignment is not a universal flaw, then you're good to go. Also keep in mind there is no mechanism to secure the folio in the closed position beyond how you hold or carry it. This is not a deal breaker and it certainly is not a flaw, it's simply worth noting.Bottom Line: This folio will serve your Surface 2 well if you are using it as either a dedicated tablet or dedicated laptop. The folio gets high marks in either scenario. I compliment its appearance, slim and lightweight design and its seeming ability to protect my device through normal, everyday use and abuse. What knocks it down a couple of grades is that it may not be the folio for everyone. If you plan on working with your Surface 2 as both a laptop and a tablet, transitioning between modes is a consideration and this folio is simply not designed to accommodate that transition gracefully.

This case is the best I have had. Since getting my Surface, I have gone through a few cases, and all of them have fallen apart quickly. Also, non of them have provided the functions I have wanted. This one has exceeded my expectations. It provides the needed kickstand since all cases remove that option. It protects the corners, and it protects with thick silicon. The materials feel great. You cannot fold the keyboard all the way back, but I have not had a single case that has worked well with that anyway. I am very happy with it, and definitely recommend this case to anyone with a Surface.
