Not for letterman and varsity jackets. Way to small.

Got these to 'repair' a thermal lined sweatshirt the zipper broke on. Haven't done that project as of 3/24 yet, but did use them to snap a piece of webbing to a soft sided cooler bag and these worked perfectly to replace the cruddy velcro circle it came with. They snap firmly and securely and suit my needs.I installed these with the 'BTSKY 11pcs DIY Leather Craft Tool Die Punch Snap Kit Rivet Setter Tool with Base for Punch Hole and Install Rivet Button' tool set here on Amazon. There's a lot of these universal tool sets btw, I chose that one because it was the cheapest one with Prime at the time I needed it. (Don't judge me. lol) The other selling point on that particular tool was the separate round anvil was smooth for snaps. The largest cup on the strip of metal was the right size for the decorative caps on these though, so any of these tools sold here "should" work for these snaps. I used the back side of the metal 'cup strip' to hammer in the bottom part of the snaps.I Strongly Advise people who've never done this before like me: Get some extra snaps just incase you ruin a couple of the posts getting a feel for what you're doing. I was trying to install these snaps in too much foam at first. Ruined two this way because I was in denial. (foam squishes so it should work! Wrong! lol) Ruined two other posts: one, figuring out where to hammer the flat side, and one trying to install these through two layers of webbing. I ended up getting the feel for it, and am pretty confident I can install these in the future without too many snap post casualties. If dritz sells just bottom posts, let me know. I can salvage the ones I messed up!Hope this helps someone from making my same mistakes. There's some good YouTube videos showing how to use the tools, and despite watching them I still needed to get a feel for installation.

Use these for straps on a hockey mask for a Halloween costume

I am not a huge crafter, but when I need just a few snaps this came to my rescue, I keep a few extras

My nice winter coat zipper broke, so instead of replacing the coat I decided to buy these snaps. Be sure you buy the installation tool separately. They are not that easy to put in. I used a combination of the included instructions (with the plier tool, not the snaps) and the Amazon video to figure it out. Thought I had the hang of it, but still put 2 of the snaps in wrong - easy to due since some of the components look very similar. It's really hard to get them out. And the parts you put in wrong can't be used again, so I had to order more snaps. Finally done. The snaps don't all work easily - some of them are ok, others very hard to get snapped. I think I easily put in 2 hours installing 7 snaps overall. If I had to do it again I think I'd just buy a new coat!I would decrease to 2 stars now that I've worn the coat a few times. The snaps just do not "snap" easily. It's frustrating as I need all snaps closed against the cold. I would never undertake this project again, knowing what I do now.

The caps of these snaps have inconsistent diameters which makes fitting into the tool a challenge. Some cannot be held by the tool resulting in acrobatics to install. These are also very heavy duty snaps which are difficult to open once snapped. Unpainted "heavy duty" snaps of the same size from the same company fit better in the tool and are more easily opened.

Without the special snap tool these were hard but not impossible to put on triple layer denim. They look good, but for most applications I’ll stick to the sew on snaps.

Item is good quality however one package was short a couple pieces.

Work well and stay snapped!!
