Good deal for the price
This sub is easy too hook-up, good looking, and delivers a good range of sound from the low-lows to higher notes. Hard to beat for the price. And if you get it delivered by JR, you'll get it very quickly (before the estimated date in my case) and in great condition. The only downside is that it is a bit-larger and slightly heaver than I personally expected, but only slightly.

Musical sub
Not just a boomer. I generally can't appreciate most rap or any music that has a straight one or two note boom-boom low end. My cup of tea is music with lows that vary in frequency i.e. different types of drums, upright bass violins, tubas, pipe organs, etc. This sub holds clean and true to those and other instruments. Plus it can home theater great crashes and roars but you'll need to turn it up a bit for impact when watching movies. It does have the ability to rattle and roll artwork on the walls when required, but for that I'd prefer a more expensive sub from HSU or SVS. Anyways this sub is heavy, well constructed, has a fairly powerful amp and is just as ugly and/or just as nice looking as all the other black boxes...It should last me for many years.Only one minus: it has a foam surround. So the issue is foam surround vs rubber. Foam supposedly deteriorates. I have a pair of Kenwoods with foam surrounding the large 15" base cones but the foam surrounds still rock and roll after 30 years...so I don't know...foam is OK with me. Maybe I'll win a lotto before the foam deteriorates on this sub and replace it with a higher end unit. Unfortunately, this unit is just recently out-of-production so if you can find one and can't afford a HSU or SVS, pick it up...it is a good box, no doubt one that you should be able to enjoy for many years...

Good woofer!
Sounds better then my old BOSE, good bass for a large room, I have it set up in a 20' by 20' room with 20' ceilings, it rocks!4 stars because I would like a better stream line design, but hey who sees it, is behind the sofa anyways ;-)

Great Product for the price.
Good sound. Not too "boomy". Very pleased with the looks and performance. Polk Audio is also a good company when it comes to customer service. I had a question about the subwoofer and I received a very prompt response.

Excellent Subwoofer
I originally purchased the PSW303 (8") it was a good bass unit but I found it to be under powered and to small for the size room. I only use about 1/4 of the volume on this unit to get clear defined bass. It is an excellent match with the front RM20s and four rear RM10s. Polk makes a solid product that's always dependable and their 3/5 yr warranty is better than almost all the other subwoofer I reviewed. The only problem was I purchased it through Crutchfield. Generally a good merchant but this time they couldn't do anything right. They claim the first one was lost in delivery but UPS had no record it was shipped. It took them three (3) weeks to reship and I'm not certain they aren't going to back charge me for the one they lost, if that's really what happened!!!

GREAT sub for the money
This is a great sub for small to medium size rooms. Not just for the BOOM & BANG home theater crowd, but a MUSICAL sub that will add that bottom end punch and make the music MUCH more involving. Can think of no better way to upgrade a hi-fidelity system. A LOT of value for money spent. Will make an INCREDIBLE improvement in any system. I own TWO of these units, used in different rooms. Am using them with bookshelf speakers in the $2000/pair range. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Audiophile quality sound.

Awesome Produc
I just recently purchased this sub and lemme tell you, I couldn't be happier. This sub literately shakes the windows of my house. I am a college student so I use this sub mostly for music, and the bass it produces is extremely crisp and clear. It also sounds good hooked up to the surround sound for the TV. Just last week we had some people over to watch 300 and everyone agreed that it sounded better than in theaters...I actually had to turn the sub to half volume because it was too loud.

Great sound and value for money
I purchased this sub-woofer for a large room, 17x32(13 foot ceiling), and I am very impressed with the sound output. Polk's website recommended the 404 or the 505 based on my room dimensions, and I opted for the smaller sub because I don't like too much bass. The speaker is set at about half power, and we still have to adjust the bass volume down on the Amp for some sources. It reproduces a very realistic sound for movies and music.
