whats the shelf life?

The cartridges have expiration dates on them. However, I have used Brother TN227 cartridges 1-2 years after the expiration date without noticing a difference in print performance.

How many pages can you print approximately with the high yield cartridges

Per the manufacturer, a Brother TN227 high yield black toner cartridge yields up to 3,000 pages. The color cartridges are harder to gage as the number of pages per cartridge depends on the color saturation of what you are printing.

Does this include the Chip in each toner cylinder?

If a chip is required it is in the toner container.
