OMG - loveit!!!!!
I purchased this item at what I consider to be a great price. As always, Amazon delivered right away and I did read the instructions when it first arrived but made the mistake of tossing them in the trash along with the packaging. On first use I was totally lost after first down stroke and had to come back to the site to figure out how to fully uncork...once I realized it required "two strokes" - down then up again to uncork - while holding two bottle holders, I was so releived to find I hadn't purchased a dud. Once bottle was uncorked I was again at a loss as to how to get cork off of screw so I could store. I tried twisting, turning, etc...just like I would with my old corkscrew -nope that wasn't it. After pondering this for awhile, I finally did another web search and located this really helpful video demo: [...] ---tah dah....another stroke to remove while holding onto back base. Cork popped right off. Works like a charm and really easy to use - just have to forgot about how you did it the old way (twisting, pulling, etc - doesn't work (believe me I tried).

Nice concept but broke after a few uses
it's pretty, light, easy to use, but after a few uses, the handle broke off. we just went back to the sturdy usual two levered cork screw.

Difficult to use and broke after a few uses!
Works ok with traditional corks (if you are strong) but very difficult to open bottles with the synthetic corks that are becoming more and more prevalent. Mine broke while I was struggling with one. Plastic internals are not very strong. I'm 6'3" and 190 lbs. My much smaller wife found it impossible no matter what type of cork which was a disappointment because I bought it for her. Also, you have to squeeze the thing with one hand while you use your other hand to work the lever. Very easy to painfully pinch your skin. Look at the picture and imagine the meaty part of your hand beneath your thumb caught between the "duck's bill" and tube. I'm going back to the traditional waiter's corkscrew and recommend that you do the same!

Works as i would expect it to...
I'll admit, when i first used it out of the box, i had concerns about how well it would hold up. while it looked great, it felt pretty cheap. i've now had it for ~10 months, and it has held up great with regular use. after keeping my old rabbit in a box in the cabinet for years, i also like that this can be left out on the counter and looks great! i do think $40 is a little steep considering many other options out there, but if you want a manual opener that looks good being left out on display, this is a great product.

Works Smooth and Looks Great on the Counter
We purchased one of these a year or so ago for ourselves, and liked it so much that we bought one as a gift for a son-in-law. He likes it very much. This wine bottle opener works like a charm with smooth function and even a woman with small hands can open a great bottle of wine with ease. We will be buying more of these as gifts!

Performance Varies
The Trudeau Trulever works flawlessly with standard corks that are in good condition. Longer corks or synthetic corks cause problems. The worm will struggle with synthetic corks and may not complete the insertion cycle. When that happens, you have to carefully pull the corkscrew up from the bottle without pinching our hand while removing the cork from the bottle. Removing a synthetic cork is also problematic. Sometimes the reverse cycle works and sometimes you have to manually remove the cork - a real hassle. The same difficulty occurs with long corks.

World's Best Wine Bottle Opener
I had one of these for years, but with a handle of hard plastic (the part that inserts into the base when not in use). That plastic handle broke after ten years. The new one, bought to replace the old, has a metal handle and I suppose this change was made as an improvement. This corkscrew set is simply the best wine opener I have ever had, and is not only extremely easy to use, but very, very good looking as well.

Good corkscrew
I have terrible luck with mechanical corksrews, rabbits do not last that long even with frequent spiral changes and the last "straight up" rabbit I bought lasted five days and an equal number of bottles.I have been using the Trudeau now for three weeks and it performs fine. Seems to be solidly made. I have high hopes.
