Wonderful book on regional Spanish cuisine
I thoroughly enjoyed the TV series because of the exploration of regions of the country heretofore underrepresented, some very enticing recipes and Mr. Stein's affable personality. This companion book so far has not disappointed. Though I've only cooked a few of the recipes, they were relatively easy to prepare, utilizing just a few ingredients and perhaps 1 or 2 pans at most. Most came out perfectly. Unfortunately, one dish, the garlic chicken, was a complete failure. Mr. Stein does not tell you to remove the garlic/oil marinade and as a result the garlic burned whilst browning the chicken. As someone who considers himself a pretty decent cook, I should have known better, and in fairness the book is probably geared towards someone like me who is already knowledgeable and comfortable in the kitchen. However a bit more detail in the directions would have been welcome and averted a mess. One other criticism is that the recipes are all in metric, but it's only a minor inconvenience to convert to English measurements. Overall, I found it beautifully written and designed and I am very much looking forward to trying more recipes from this really good book. Bravo, Rick Stein.

Viva Espana
This is a really good cookbook from the fold of Rick Stein. Fond foodie memories from many visits to that vibrant country.Having bought the book previously for me and my husband - satisfactorily accomplishing to date, 75% of all its recipes,a lot of them cooked on the Isle of Wight, where fresh ingredients from the sea and land abound, I bought this copy for my chums in Minneapolis/St.Paul. They received it with equal relish. The vendor came up trumps - with delivery spot-on.

I love Rick Steins cookery books but was a little disappointed ...
I love Rick Steins cookery books but was a little disappointed with his Spanish book, perhaps he didn't have as much to work with.Have found a few recipes that I will try, but nothing like his India book which I look at most days. Perhaps it will grow on me !!

STUPID BOOK
Being English but having lived in Spain for 15 years and being a bit of a foodie, I was looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a stupid book, lacking photos for a lot of the recipes (why?) and some of the photos that are included have no relation to the recipe - for example, a bunch of carrots for Russian Salad. This might appeal to the English crowd who normally go for fish and chips in a sports bar on the Costa del Sol and want a coffee table book to pretend they're not completely ignorant, but quite honestly, the only thing I learnt from this book is that Spanish people cook much better than Rick Stein. Not recommended. I'll be giving my copy away at the first opportunity.I've rated it one star because zero stars is not an option. Don't waste your money.

Sheep brains
Bought this for a Xmas present. Slightly disappointed there’s is no picture for each recipe of the dish and many are not what you would buy or get from the supermarket in the UK. I mean from sheep brains, wild boar, lobster, rabbit, octopus.

Very much Rick Stein's Spain
Impressions and recipes. "The recipes are not always completely authentic. They've been altered slightly to reflect my memory of how a particular gazpacho or paella tasted, or equally how something that was overcooked, stale or badly prepared could have tasted if they'd tried harder".I love his take on traditional Andalucian gazpacho with roasted red peppers and plenty of olive oil.Recommended to lovers of Spain, Spanish cookery - and seafood.

Spanish recipes at their best
Simple and tasty Spanish food with many delicious recipes by Rick. I love Rick’s series and I have found some of these recipes simply divine. Love the monkfish and saffron recipe which is absolutely beautiful.I have never bought a cookbook on Kindle before also and have found this quite helpful and whilst it is not the same as leafing through and deciding what to cook it is so much easier for cooking in different places.
