So Good
Extremely good, one of the best alt Lego products we've built. Captain Barnacles and Shellington minifigures are cute and sturdy. The ship has good building techniques, challenging but doable for my Lego veteran seven year old daughter, and the final result is beautiful. Good job! We'll be buying the whole set over time!

Most exciting XMas present of the year
This is what my 4yo was most excited about and badgered me to assemble first. The model is sturdy and I ran into no issues fitting parts together, not sure what went wrong for some of the reviewers here. It's clear that the design was a labor of love for someone - it really looks like on TV, there are custom parts, and the way the body is assembled out of interleaving parts gives it stability where an easier replacement tile could have been used more cheaply. If anyone involved in the design and production ever reads this - thank you, you really made my child excited and happy and gave me a wonderful flashback to my lego building years. Also - to all the people who participated in getting it to me before XMas as opposed to "before Jan 3", thank you, you are great people! The item comes safely packaged in bubble wrap and a clear plastic bag, with submodules packaged in individual plastic bags inside. The instructions are really well written and clear. I struggle to say more positive things about this, but it rates as my highest satisfaction purchase this year, and great value at the price.

Good quality, tight fit, has design issues.
Edit: after a few weeks of play, some pieces have lost their grip. Mostly, the heads of the Octonauts are pretty loose. I put a thin bit of super glue around the head hole and let it dry. The neck fits snugly again. This set is totally killer. My kid loves it. He had more trouble putting the bricks together than LEGO brand because truly, they are sometimes a tighter fit. What other reviews mention, the bricks falling apart, is actually from design issues. LEGO designs are intended to be constructed so that they can be picked up, played with, and not come apart. These sets do not seem to have that same goal. That aside, the bricks seem an equal quality, the colors are beautiful, and the directions were fine to work through. We are choosing to super glue the pieces together that come apart easily because we don't intend to ever dismantle this thing. That way it's more playable and we don't have to keep fixing the tricky part connections for our 4 year old.

Ok for toddlers but falls apart more easily than lego brand
My 4 year old built these- the instructions s are decent for non lego instructions. However... These bricks are tricky! Some are a ridiculously tight fit that an adult will struggle with or ultimately replace with a spare part from a different kit. Cool when finished- design is neat. However the bricks on GUP A fall apart every time you pick it up. We’ve had good luck with GUP S and GUP E & D but unfortunately GUP A is a tricky little GUP- Ultimately will buy again for self, but not impressed with quality and definitely would not gift this to anyone.

Kids love legos
My girls grandson loves it. He is a big fan of the show and I got him this for Christmas. He is 4 yo and he is into Legos right now.

Fun "Lego" style build
I bought this for my toddler, with the clear intention to build it myself, since he's a huge fan of Octonauts and "Gups". The build itself is very similar to Legos with Ikea style picture instructions. Easy enough to follow along, but I didn't properly connect pieces 2x due to some confusion. The kit included all pieces and a handy tool for separating them (came in handy when I misassembled). You do have to assemble Barnicles and Shellington as well. The "glass" piece I received was scratched and cloudy, but the company was responsive and sent a new piece straight away. I don't really intend on letting my kid handle this like a typical toy. However, other reviewers are correct in that the top half of the Gup is too heavy and will pop off if not mindful when handling. You could probably superglue that section together if it bothers you enough. Overall I'm quite happy with this purchase. It wasn't cheap but considering how much typical Lego kits are, I'd say it was fairly priced.

Great product
Bought this for kid's 4th birthday because she is the fan of Octonauts. She also owns a lot of Lego products. Overall, this Gup-A model is just as good as Lego. At some point, the design at some parts to put together is creative and genius. It becomes a favorite toy now. Looks like to get more from this brand soon....

Gup-A is a fun kit
Our daughter loves Octonauts and with the original Fisher Price toys going for collectible rates on this site and eBay I thought we'd give these pseudo-Legos a try. Of all the sets we've put together so far, the GUP-A is the sturdiest. When other reviews say that these are fragile, it isn't because the bricks have a loose fit; they are just as tight as Legos. However, sometimes the design of certain elements, esp. moving fins or any extra clever trickery to make parts move, can be fragile. However, the GUP-A doesn't really suffer from these issues and is a solid set. These really wind up looking quite good and representative of the show. We didn't experience any missing or malformed parts.
