Coby MP3 Player with 1 GB Flash Memory, USB Drive and LCD MP300-1G (Black) (Discontinued by manufacturer)

I was looking for an inexpensive mp3 player, preferably one that didn't require i-tunes. I bought my first Coby and was quite happy with it, for about six months. Then one day, while changing folders & files, the device just froze and died. So I purchased a 4gb Sansa Fuze. Once again I enjoyed music in the car (a little better quality than the Coby). And once again the device just up 'n quit on me. I went back to the Amazon reviews. The reviews on the 8gb Sansa Clip were so good that I took another chance and bought one of those things. I was very pleased and played that little bugger non-stop for over a year.Somehow I developed the idea that the Coby and the Fuze were 'overworked' by moving too much data at once, so I only used 4gb to 6gb at a time with the Clip. After a while I also developed some sense of confidence and abandon and purchased another Coby as a 'backup,' moving small amounts of data at time. I liked the Clip so much that I gave it to a friend and ordered another for me. Then my 'backup' Coby went on the blink. Perhaps I tried to delete too much data at once. I dunno. But the stuff I left in the device only totaled about 1gb while the device properties showed there was no more room. The same week, my new Sansa Clip completely "froze up and died."Now that the price of Sony Walkmans has dropped to a fairly reasonably range, I bought an 8gb "S" series and a 16gb "E" series. Both are working quite nicely, thank you. I especially like the equalizer options and the 'clear base' feature. Better than acceptable sound quality too. I've been working them hard and so far no problems (knock on wood). The only difference I can detect between the "S" and the "E" series is that the "S" series has an external speaker feature that I never use.Scorecard: 2 out of 2 Coby 4gb devices bit the dust. 2 out of 3 Samsung products bit the dust. 2 out of 2 Sony Walkman products appear to be working well ... ... ...

I bought this for a close friend lives far away. So I got it, I uploaded to it bunch of songs we used to like. First of all this coby looks and feels flimsy not like what you see in the picture, that does not mean it is bad but it just not as shiny and as solid as it looks in the picture. It is pretty easy to add songs to it just like any other flash drive; create folders then drag/drop or copy/paste. The battery seems to have a pretty good life, it did not lose any energy while I am working on it specially with using their own poor batteries so that is a pretty good sign. The biggest problem I found was how to jump from folder to folder specially if you are playing a song in a folder full of many songs. So in order to be able to shift between different folders you will need to be aware of the name of every first song in your every folder, because above this song will be the folder menu which is pretty tricky specially that this coby does not allow you to arrange songs the way you want(as far as I know). As example I named some songs by numbers and put them in this order into the player but they were mostly messed up so be aware of that, plus that the key for jumping between songs if you keep clicking on it, it flies between songs like a rocket which makes it pretty hard for you to know where exactly you are in the list up down in the middle? When I tried to jump to the main menu and choose folders, it does not actually allow you this way to choose between folders"unfortunately" but instead once you click folders it is going to jump to the most recent song you were playing or in other words the most recent folder you were playing some songs from. I hope this helps and I hope that my friend is going to be able to deal with this part specifically.

My main gripe is that I lost the cover pretty fast, in the first few days. I also lost the battery cover. I also dropped it in the toilet. Oops. I put it in the freezer for two days, and it worked fine. After one day in the freezer, it still wouldn't work, but after two days, it did.The volume isn't loud enough some times, and the battery life could be better. I learned to take the battery out before I plug it into the USB port in my computer, because that drains the battery, and you don't need the battery when it's in the computer.I never did figure out how to delete songs, other than by plugging it into the computer and using Explorer to delete them.It took me a while to understand how to use the buttons. One thing I kept doing was skipping to the next track or the previous track when I wanted to back up or fast forward. I use mine to listen to talk radio and interviews, and sometimes I like to go back over something that I missed the first time.I really like how it remembers where it was when I turn it off. When I turn it on again, it starts up right where it left off. That's great.

This is still the best version of the MP3 Player Coby has ever released. I have a few still in their packages incase my old one dies. There are two drawbacks I have had with these. One is the ear buds. I'm not a fan of buds, so I use headphones instead and they work well with each other. The other problem is, as happened with my previous one, the buttons wear down and tend to not work as well after a year or two of use.

It takes a AAA battery, so I don't have to worry about it dying in the middle of a flight. I use the new Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries, AAA, 4-Count .It holds more than my favorites with a 2,000 song capacity. I rip at 192kbps for better quality listening, so I don't get as many songs on, but it handles them perfectly. Then I purchased the iBlink earbuds which fit well into the canal for a great seal that allows the bass boost of these earbuds through. They rival the $200 pair I have, and I can turn the Coby down to 1 (one) on the volume and still hear it clearly!!! These are great earbiuds, though I never use the LED blinking lights.  IBLINK WLB2 Earbuds with LED Lights (White with Blue LED Lights) Awesome combo that rocks my sixties British Invasion to the core!!

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem zuverlässigen MP3 Player, den ich z.B. zum Sport oder auf Reisen mitnehmen kann.Ich bin von dem Coby MP300 absolut begeistert. Durch Plug&Play kann er einfach und ohne Software an jeden Rechner angeschlossen werden. Das Kopieren der Musikdateien funktioniert einwandfrei. Mir war die Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit nicht wichtig, aber ich empfinde sie bei diesem Gerät als recht schnell.Die verschieden Einstellungsmöglichkeiten wie z.B. Equalizer, Hintergrundfarben und Repeat (ein Lied, alle Lieder, zufällige Lieder etc.) gefallen mir gut und funktionieren alle einwandfrei.Die Verarbeitung des Gerätes ist nicht hochwertig, aber solide. Alle Tasten lassen sich gut bedienen.Von der mitgelieferten Batterie war ich sehr überrascht, da diese wirklich lange gehalten hat.Lediglich die Coby Kopfhörer finde ich nicht so gut. Ich nutze die meines Iphones und Klang ist damit wirklich top.Fazit: Tolles Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

The player gets "stuck" and repeats the same word over and over and over again. Most frustrating for someone just trying to listen. You have to skip a song, to the next song, to get it to stop this repeating, and then it starts all over again. Most frustrating.I know it was only twenty bucks, but really, if it's not going to work properly, then just don't sell it. :(

Hier alle erkennbaren Unterschiede:- Die Form des Coby-Players ist etwas dynamischer und schicker, da weniger eckig und globig. Das macht den Player äußerlich etwas eleganter, wenn er auch kaum weniger groß ist- Die Schrift ist beim Coby etwas größer, die Menüführung etwas gewöhnungsbedürftiger (Man braucht nicht mehr Klicks, sondern muss sich lediglich an die Darstellung gewöhnen)- Beim Coby lässt sich im Gegensatz zum Player von Odys die Hintergrundfarbe wählen. Dafür fehlt dem Coby die Aufnahmefunktion, die der Odys widerum besitzt.- Auffällig ist die Ähnlichkeit, teilweise auch Gleichheit von Symbolen. Offenkundig... wurde hier abgekupfert, wenn ich auch nicht weiß, wer von wem geklaut hat.- Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig sind die Bezeichnungen bei Coby. So heißt es bei Odys "Dateien" und bei Coby "Aktencheft" (Das "c" in der Mitte ist kein Schreibfehler von mir, sondern wird so im Player angezeigt). Diese seltsamen Benennungen beim Coby sind auch an anderen Stellen sichtbar (Was mich schon vermuten lässt, wer da wo abgekupfert hat)- Der Odys hat im Gegensatz zum Coby einen "Steuerknüppel". Der Coby hat dafür die entsprechenden vier Tasten eben auf der Oberseite, was keinerlei Erschwerung des Handlings zur Folge hat. Ohne den Joystick ist es mir sogar etwas lieber. Zwar hatte ich bei bisherigen Playern noch nie Probleme mit dem kleinen Knüppel, aber es erschien mir immer als das für Verschleiß anfälligste Teil. Die Tasten wirken da etwas robuster. Ob die eine oder andere Hardware jedoch eher die Zeit übersteht, muss die (eben) die Zeit zeigen.Beide Player verfügen nicht über eine Radiofunktion. Den Player jedoch nur wegen der Falschangabe hier im Sortiment in Stumpf und Stil schlecht zu reden, halte ich jedoch nicht für angebracht. Der Player ist an sich in Ordnung und umfasst alle Funktionen, die man gewöhnlich braucht. Die Anzeige und Steuerbarkeit ist ausreichend, wenn ich auch schon etwas bessere Player erlebt habe. Sehr elegant hat das etwa ein inzwischen nicht mehr erhältlicher Player von Samsung gelöst: Mit einem kurzen Druck auf den Steuerknüppel kam man in die Optionen, mit einem Gedrückthalten kam man direkt in die Ordnerwahl. Sowohl beim Odys als auch beim Coby muss erst ins Menü gegangen werden, dort die Ordnerwahl angeklickt werden, was ich im Alltag etwas umständlicher finde (Aber auch nur, wenn öfters der Ordner gewechselt werden muss und man sich nicht längere Zeit innerhalb eines Ordners bewegt).Die Darstellung des Displays auf der Angebotsbild trügt etwas: Die Schrift ist (wie auch bei anderen Playern üblich) schwarz und nicht weiß. Das Produktbild zeigt den Player mit der Schutzfolie auf dem Display, so wie der Player in der Verpackung liegt.Bitte beachtet meinen eigenen Kommentar zum Produkt!!!Ergänzung am 27.02.2012:Der Preis wurde heute von den bisherigen 9,99 Euro auf die 28,74 Euro erhöht, die er ursprünglich kosten sollte. Für die 9,99 Euro hätte ich ihn empfehlen können, fast 30 Euro ist das Gerät allerdings nicht wert. Warum dieser Schritt mit dem kurzen Preisnachlass gemacht wurde, erklärt sich mir nicht. Eventuell wollte man das Entstehen von Rezensionen anregen. Nun kann ich eher den Griff zum Player von Odys emfpehlen, der (etwa gleichwertig) weniger kostet.Ergänzung am 4.06.2012:Es ist nun eines der wenigen Male, wo ich mich tatsächlich für eine Rezension von mir wirklich schäme. Ursprünglich hatte ich diesen Player als besonders gut herausstellen wollen, hielt ihn für wirklich gut. Die Form des Players gefiel mir, die Tasten waren gut zu bedienen und machten einen stabilen Eindruck. Praktisch fand ich die M-Taste, mit der sowohl im Menü als auch der Dateiführung zurück gegangen werden konnte.Heute... gab der Player bereits seinen Geist auf. Die Videorezension und die ursprüngliche Rezension oben verfasste ich kurz nach dem Kauf des Players. Die Lebenszeit des Geräts war also wirklich überschaubar. Erst machte das Gerät lediglich ein wenig Faxen. Aber jetzt geht der Player nicht mehr richtig an. Wenn doch, ist die Anwahl und das Agieren innerhalb des Menüs kaum noch möglich. Bzw. funktioniert der Player mal ein wenig und mal garnicht, je nachdem, wie es ihm gerade gefällt.Indes haben mehrere andere MP3-Player von mir den vorliegenden Player überlebt: Ein Samsung-Player, ein Commodore-Player und der Odys-Player. Die beiden Erstgenannten hatten einfach sehr geringe Speicherkapazitäten. Ich war mit Samsung und Commodore zwar äußerst zufrieden, allerdings waren die Modelle neben dem begrenzten Speicherplatz nun auch nicht mehr erhältlich. Den Odys-Player habe ich immer noch regelmäßig in Verwendung. Ich hatte dem Odys und dem vorliegenden Coby lediglich verschiedene Aufgaben zugedacht.Aus der Zeit, als ich den Player kaufte, war er gerade für 10 Euro im Angebot. Ich hatte daher damals zwei Player gekauft, das zweite Modell bis heute noch eingepackt gelassen. Nun... überträgt der erste Player seinen Lebensgeist auf den zweiten Player. Als USB-Stick könnte ich den ersten Player noch verwenden, denn das Dateiensystem an sich scheint noch in Ordnung zu sein. Macht der zweite Player auch schnell schlapp, ist wohl klar, dass Fehler in der Firma Coby bzw. bei diesem Modell wohl eher Regel als Ausnahme sind.
