A better way to childproof blind cords. No question about it: you need to get those dangerous blind cords out of baby's reach. But until now, cord protectors required you to wind each cord manually. Our clever Blind Winder is retractable, like a tape measure, so it works in a flash. Installs easily--just cut cord ends off and slip into Blind Winder, and it neatly retracts 6-10 feet. Works with all types of blinds and won't affect their use. Pack of 4.

Highly recommended for childproofing or those seeking a neat/clean look to your blinds.
I'm a big fan of these cord shorteners. I recommend them for anyone either child proofing or who simply wants the excess cords neatly tucked away. They do work fairly smoothly, like a tape measure. If you want the shortner all the way at the top while the blinds are fully open, sometimes it takes a few times for the entire cord to wind into the box, but with a little patience, it fits and looks very neat, tidy, and is safely out of harms way.UPDATE: I bought these cord shorteners just over a year ago and am only just now replacing 2 of the six that I installed. The 2 I am replacing are attached to blinds that I open and close on a daily, and sometimes twice daily, basis. I would still recommend these since it is really only about a $5/year investment in safety and well worth it in my opinion.(SUGGESTION): To help maintain the integrity of the mechanism inside, I would suggest that you hold (pinch) the cords just above the winder to pull the blinds open rather than using the winder to tug them open. Also, if you find that the winder only goes about halfway up or gets stuck midway, pull it down to the very end and make sure there aren't any twists in the two cords. Untwisting the cords seems to make the winder work much more smoothly all the way to the top.

Not effective for kids who can CLIMB
This product works for NON CLIMBERS ONLY. Once little ones are able to climb, they can reach these cords. Not only does this winder re-create the loop in the pull cord where a child can strangle, an older child can pull the window open, create a longer cord and wrap that cord around their neck. You might think, Oh my kid won't do that. They do. They use them in dramatic play while being ninja's, tarzan, rapunzul, parachute troopers ect. Cords are never okay with kids in the house. Kids as old as 7 have died. Google Parents for Window Blind Safety. This is happening every 2 weeks. This product should not even be advertised! #GoCordless

Works OK, but Addico Customer service is bad
I have used these for years. They mostly work well. However, a common problem with these is that the winding mechanism (spring) dies and they are not repairable. Pretty pricey at $5 each if you have many blinds in the house.I tried contacting the Company that distributes these--Addico and had a really hard time locating them. It tooks some creative searching on the internet to find them. And when I did, I spoke with a woman who I think was a co-owner. I told her I had a bunch of these with dead springs and she told me to send them to Addico and they would replace them. I did so and never heard from them. When I called--there was no response.Buyer beware.

GREAT product (after you break a few and figure them out)
These are finicky - expect to break a few and have to replace them. That being said, they are SO much better than the manual cord wraps. My daughter's room has 5 blinds in it and I knew I needed to find an alternative to the manual cord wraps. We tried all sorts of jerry rigs for the cords - draping them across high dressers, winding them around adhesive hooks we placed on the walls, etc. But, these winders are ideal. They are fast and effective. However, if you exert pressure on the wrong part (essentially, if you break the 'spring'), they are done and need to be replaced. Other people's reviews explain the 'spring' better than I can. I'd just recommend buying a few extra, figuring out what you did wrong when you break a couple, and then enjoying them going forward. They are not cheap, but they are a lot cheaper than new cordless window treatments!

Love These!
I purchased my first set of 4 blind winders over 5 years ago. Absolutely love them! I have worn out a few - they lose their spring action over time. I tried another type (it was cheaper) and that didn't work so well. I put 2 new ones on as soon as they came. I had a problem with 1 of them working like it should with no spring action to wind the cord so replaced it with another one. I won't return it - it might have been the installer (me). Now I have 1 extra one and YES - I'll buy these again. I love them!

Excellent
Have had a couple break right outta the box, but the rest have had constant use- make me feel good about the safety of cords around our 1 year old. And besides, even if it wasn't for the safety value, who likes looking at cords? Love that these keep them out of sight.

Works Great
Works great. This is the second time I've bought these. The first few times you wind them up go slowly to make sure you wound the cord neatly inside the box. After that, they operate very easily with no issue. I love these since buying cordless shades is so much more expensive.

wonderful
Works perfectly fine for us. I have 12 of them to protect our grandson as he grows up.
