Hozelock Tricoflex Ultraflex Hose, Yellow, 12.5 mm x 25 m

My 20-plus year old pink (?!!) hosepipe had began seriously failing. Springing random pinpoint leaks even with a water pressure of just 4 bar. Time to replace it.In the midst of COVID lockdown, I just decided to play "safe" and choose a well known brand - Hozelock - and head towards their upper end.So I ended up with 30m of this new, 5-layered, yellow and grey hose. Looks amazing, has a crazy long-term guarantee, and can certainly handle my water pressure.The ONLY niggle (and not worth deducting as star for), is that once I'd cut the four cable ties that held the hose in a tight reel, I had the devil's-only job fully unfurling the hose without introducing massive twists, and with nearly 100ft of hose, they take a LOT of effort to untangle.NEXT time (20 years hence?) I will put the hose around a make-shift reel before cutting the ties ...

First the obvious: this hose is resistant to kinking when pressurised, but when empty will kink like any other hose. You can't change the laws of mechanics; a thin wall hose that has been twisted along its length, will kink when bent sharply.Having said that, this hose has a grey stripe along its length; very useful to identify when its gets twisted. Keep it untwisted regularly, and it won't kink very much.The hose is indeed very lightweight; upon close inspection it consists of several layers; a thin smooth blue inner tube of solid material, then two layers of a closed cell foam construction (a black one and a yellow one with mesh webbing in between), and then a thin transparent outer layer (solid material with an ever so sightly rough surface texture). It is the closed cell foam construction of the middle two layers that makes this hose so lightweight (when empty). We haven't used it yet in the colder winter weather, but I suspect this foam construction will make it keep its flexibility much better when it gets colder, compared to the standard PVC hose we had before which went as rigid as PVC pipe when cold.Pushes onto Hozelock hose connectors without any leaks, in our experience; just screw the nut REALLY tight with a wrench; hand-tight isn't enough.

This has a natural non-round shape due a band of stiffening down the length of the pipe. Unfortunately using it with all the connectors I have, the all leak, due to this off round shape. I have tried slicing this stiffening piece off and it works to some degree. I would have thought Hozelock would have mentioned that their connectors and adaptors would leak using this pipe!

We were looking for a light and easy to use hose for occasional use. This is precisely what we got with the Hozelock Tricoflex Ultraflex. I was surprised at just how light this hose was, even when filled with water it was still relatively light. It does not really kink, but there is a knack to gathering it up again and looping it for storage, as I think there always is with any cabled / tubed product. The fact that the hose is SO light makes this far less of a task than it ever has been before. The product also has a 20 year guarantee - something you do not often see in this day & age!! Buying the hose in a length like this is very good value - you cannot go wrong!!

Bought this hose from a market leader expecting a robust product, the hose split the first time approximately 2 meters from the water gun so cut it off and tried again within a week it split again.I cannot be bothered to mess around with returning it will go out and by a rival product.

I had an older green hozelock hose for about 18 years which has been degrading the last few years in such that small leaks and kinking. This looks a better quality so hopefully will last up to 20 years. I have a wall mounted reel and managed to roll this on no problem, the trick is to have a spray gun or similar fitted on the end and turn the tap on. The pressure keeps makes it easier to roll onto the reel.

Bought this as wanted a separate hose specifically for 'water scarecrow' use. Our regular garden hose is a wall mounted Hozelock auto spooling and retracting 40m hose with a 'waterstop' connector and the scarecrow doesn't work very well with this at all. This, with a pair of Hozelock Pro connectors is perfect for that use. It feels tough and doesn't kink easily. It is a bit heavier than most hoses I've had in the past but it definitely seems robust enough to leave out in most weathers.
