PERFECT!
Our stove died a few days ago, so I purchased this rice cooker to use while we wait for the arrival of our new stove. The rice cooker arrived yesterday and we used it today to make our first batch of rice in it. We're a family of 3, so I could have gone with a smaller rice cooker, but after doing some research and reading people's reviews about how some people experience water splashing out of the little steam hole in other rice cookers. I decided to go with a bigger rice cooker. This is why I chose to buy this 10-cup rice cooker. I figured I could still make a small batch of rice in a larger cooker, and not have to worry about any splashing water since there will be extra height/space left in the cooker to allow for the rising water when it's coming to a boil. Anyway, I'm very happy I purchased this rice cooker. For those wanting to know how i cooked my rice, this is what I did:• This rice cooker comes with a small cup, I filled that cup to the top with uncooked basmati rice. I did not wash the rice.• I filled up the same cup with water twice and poured that into the rice bowl (1 cup of rice = 2 cups water).• I put the lid on the rice bowl, plugged in the rice cooker and flipped the front switch to "cook."• When the switch changed to "warm," I unplugged the rice cooker and let it sit for about 15 minutes with the lid on.• After the 15 minutes, the rice was ready to serve. As you can see in my photos, none of the rice burned. Perfect rice!* Once served, I seasoned the rice with some soy sauce and sesame seed oil and served with roasted veggies and meatballs that I roasted in the toaster oven.I made enough rice for two, maybe three people. I highly recommend this rice cooker. One small note is that I did notice an odor near the end of the cooking time, but I think it was probably from being new and being used for the first time. I think the odor was coming from the cooker and not the bowl (I washed the bowl last night). The rice did not smell or taste strange. This cooker also came with a plastic spatula and a steaming basket for steaming veggies, meat, etc. I'm not sure what the bowl and steamer basket is made of, but it feels very light, like if it was aluminum. Though it did come with a plastic spatula, I will be using my silicone spatula to help avoid scratching.

Budget friendly and works great!
Perfect size for a large family. Easy to use and clean. Cooks rice evenly. Glass lid stays put during boiling phase without spilling hot starchy rice water all over the cooker. Only downside is the electrical cord is attached to the cooker, but that is a minor inconvenience.

5 years worked perfectly for family of 5
I've had this rice cooker for almost 5 years. We are a family of 5 and it has worked perfectly for us, until this past month it wasn't cooking right and leaving the rice hard. That being said, after reading many reviews on other rice cookers, 5 years is a good life span. It never spit liquid or was a messy clean up. Super easy to use even for my kids that started using it at 8 yrs old. I taught them to wash the rice (we use calrose) and measure the water with the Filipino finger!

I was tired of soggy rice, burned rice, yucky rice.
This is my first rice cooker and it's doing the job. I was tired of soggy rice, burned rice, yucky rice. This rice cooker doesn't burn the rice and you can add ingredients and come out with a tasty rice dish, that isn't burned. I can't yet speak to how the veggie steamer works. It washes up quickly and stores neatly in a cabinet. It's a big deal to commit to giving an appliance space in your kitchen and I believe this rice cooker is worth it. I took a star off because the inner coating was scratched where the lid meets the bowl. However, I believe it to be only a cosmetic flaw which doesn't affect how the cooker performs. I would recommend this rice cooker.

This is the Best Rice Cooker Around. Durable. Lasting. Great Rice. Easy Clean.
I had my other Rival 10-Cup Rice Cooker for about 17 years. It finally broke and probably because we had a power surge and not due to the cooker itself. This little guy lasts forever and cooks rice in about 15 minutes or less to perfection. It has gotten banged up, fallen off the counter, stuffed into suitcases, and taken with me while I travel often. I like that I can cook some rice and if I don't use it all, I can just take the container and lid and stuff it in the fridge for tomorrow. Great rice for the next day. This is the best rice cooker out there!

Works, but can be messy
It works about as well as the other rice cookers I've owned. The power cord is built in and cannot be removed, so it's a little awkward to store in the cupboard with that cord hanging out. My other rice cookers had removable power cords.Update: Reduced to 3 stars from 5: When cooking 3 scoops or more, the starchy bubbles spatter out of the vent hole making a big mess. My other rice cookers didn't do that. Some people have said that washing the rice reduces the starch mess, but I've also heard that washing the rice also reduces the nutrition content.

Awesome gift
Got this rice cooker for my dad because he really wanted one. I read a lot of reviews before I purchased. This is our first rice cooker but it seems to be really great. It does make a mess if you don't stir it once or put butter or salt in it. But if you do that it won't. It is quick and easy and the rice tastes great. It's easy to clean and we really enjoy it. I don't know if more expensive ones are better or not, but this one is great and not terribly pricey. I enjoy it thoroughly.

Same model: Old one worked for 6 years and new one broke in a month
I've owned a same one for 6+ years. It's still working fine (yes, it does make a mess on the countertop when cooking, but the rice tastes good) but the interior of the inner bowl is heavily scratched due to natural wear. So I decided to order the same one to simply get a new bowl. The new one stopped working just a month after purchase - the button would not stay down to allow cooking. Wonder if we just had good luck with the first one or bad luck with the second one.
