Better than Electric!
This works so much better than the electric versions! It just “sticks” to the drywall nails with a strong magnet. There’s no guessing. It made finding the studs so much easier.

Simple, Reliable, and Made in the USA – Perfect for Everyday Use!
The StudBuddy Magnetic Stud Finder is a straightforward, reliable tool that gets the job done without any fuss. Its simplicity is its strongest feature—no batteries or complicated settings required. Just glide it along the wall, and the strong magnet quickly identifies screws or nails in studs. I’ve used it for hanging shelves and artwork, and it’s consistently pinpointed studs behind drywall and wood paneling.I appreciate that it’s made in the USA and feels durable in hand. While it won’t replace electronic stud finders for heavy-duty projects, it’s perfect for quick tasks and avoids the frustration of false readings. For anyone needing an affordable, no-nonsense tool for everyday household use, the StudBuddy delivers.

Easy to Use
I bought a fancy stud finder that cost like 10 times more and was impossible to use. I wish I had purchased this one first. It's easy to use, effective at finding studs, and super inexpensive.

Great cheap tool
It works well, a little tough to use on the ceiling, but the magnets are strong. The one thing that bugs me and that I knocked a star off for possible improvement is how noisy it is. It would really be nice to have something, felt, I don't know, but something that makes it less obnoxious to scrape across the wall...especially textured walls.

Finding Studs in a Flash This Little Magnet Makes Me Look Like a DIY Superstar
I love how this thing fits snugly in my hand and feels feather-light. It’s only about 4 ounces, but boy, it saves me so much time hunting for studs. No batteries, no calibration, just glides across the wall and sticks when it locks onto a screw nail, suddenly I’m spotting studs with the confidence of a human divining rod. It speeds up hanging shelves or frames like nothing else; what used to take me forever now takes under a minute. The lightweight compact design means it slips into my toolbox and comes along to every project, no dead battery drama, no guesswork, just fast, reliable results. Its powerful neodymium magnets detect screws even through textured or freshly painted drywall, so I’ve saved hours avoiding misfires and patching plaster. Five stars, this is one tool I didn’t realize how much I needed until it became my go-to.

Simple and accurate!
I own a fancy version of a studfinder that has failed me all too many times. Got sick and tired of patching holes in my drywall where there were no studs. This works perfectly, is a fraction of the cost of the fancy battery operated ones, and I love how it stays on the wall once a nail/screw in a stud is found! Bonus: easy to find in my tool bag, since the magnet sticks to almost everything! 🤣 Proves to me once again that keeping things simple can be a beautiful thing. Happy customer.

Easy to use, just not as helpful.
It only works if that stud has a nail in it that it can stick to (detect). If you can not find another nail along that studs path you are out of luck. You are back to guessing the full path or direction of the stud. It also does not distinguish well if it's a stud, a junction box, or a pipe. I tested this vs WALABOT DIY 2 on a recently contracted pantry that was put up by contractors we hired and they accidentally placed two beams slightly crooked and off about 1-2'sh inches at the top vs the bottom. Now that the dry wall is up I wanted to put up shelves and needed to locate those very studs knowing two of the stud beams would not form a straight line. Studbuddy found 1-2 nails of two different studs but I could not locate the whole stud or the direction of the stud, especially, where it was off by an inch or two from top to bottom. Pretty useless tool in my opinion if you can find some studs but not all with any consistency. I pulled out my new WALABOT DIY 2 since I bought both together to hedge my bets) and wow, night and day. Found every single beam the first time, found the centers (visually), and never had to recheck. Gluing and nailing 4 Flowwall panels with 4 Flowwall wire shelves done in 30 minutes. Sorry Studbuddy, WALABOT DIY 2 has you beat, hands down. Being the cheaper product in this case is not to the DIY's advantage. "Search" Amazon for WALABOT DIY 2 and save yourself the hassle. You will never need another stud finder again.
