Samsung Galaxy S5 Case Wireless Charging Battery Cover - Black

I used a 3rd party charging pad that goes inside the original case before. White it worked it pulled the back cover out a bit which means the phone is not water proof any more.This an original Samsung back that has the proper seals and fits the S5 perfectly. All features like NFC work with it. It installs in 10 seconds. Take off the old back, put the new one on, done. The material look identical to the normal cover but it's slightly 'softer', it isn't as slippery thus it makes it feel more secure in your hands and won't slide off your lap.It adds about 1.5 to 2 mm to your phone, so it will be a little thicker. It doesn't add any significant weight to it. When I opened the box I was surprised how light it was. So no concerns about making the phone heavy. On the positive side, the back is just a little bit over the camera lens. With the original back, if you put your phone down, it rests on the camera lens and it will scratch. With this back, the lens is just slightly receded. When you put your phone down on a table the lens will not touch the surface! I consider this a big plus actually.Charging works reliable and reasonable fast. The specs say it's between 700-800 mA. That in theory is about 20-30% slower than using a cord. While it is a little slower, the fact that you can place it on the charge pad so quickly and easily, you will end up keeping your phone charged more than fiddling with the cord and the annoying charge port cover.The phone and the back doesn't get warm charging.I much prefer this over the third party coil that goes under the original back.

Pretty much in line with most reviewers: perfect fit and retains the waterproof function, as you would expect of a genuine Samsung part. Cover works perfectly with the Samsung Qi charger - very fast charging times. No more fussing with the Samsucky charging port cover. If you take the phone off the charger as soon as you hit 100%, the battery remains cool. I charge my phone overnight and the battery is pretty warm by morning... I believe the charger keeps trying to "top off" the battery. I'm not certain if that will reduce the ultimate life of the battery.Adds 19 grams of weight - a 12% total phone weight increase - which is immediately noticeable. Thickness is increased by 1.8mm, which is a big impact to "pocket-ability", which was pretty poor to begin with. As I write this, there are possibly four protective covers that will fit over this charging cover (please see my separate review of the Diztronic S5 cover), but I expect more will hit the market over time. I understand that Samsung wants to advertise a competitively thin, light package... so the wireless charging configuration has to be an "add-on" from a marketing standpoint. But why does Samsung have to slam it's loyal customers with a $30 price tag?I'm a wireless charging convert, but the size penalty and ridiculous price keeps this from 5 stars.

The perfect addition to the S5 Galaxy phone.Since the phone has a 'water resistant' USB fitting, and that fitting is rather delicate, I knew it would only be a matter of time until that fitting cover broke or wore to the point of not being so water resistant.Also, the S5 is power hungry, and with heavy use needs booster charges during the day when possible. Constantly opening that USB cover is a recipe for problems.Enter the wireless charging cover.It is made by Samsung, fits the phone perfectly, has a water resistant seal like the original, and works perfectly with the Power Bot, Kool-pad, and original Samsung charger pads (the Samsung one is the best).It does make the phone a tiny bit thicker, which actually makes it easier to hold and makes it seem more durable. However, that additional thickness may preclude the use of some 'cases' for the phone. I found the Tech 21 case is perfect when used with this charging back; it fits properly (I warmed the case up with hot air from a hair dryer first to more easily get it on the phone) and it's minimal thickness allows the charging signal to penetrate well to the phone.I'm perfectly happy. I simply don't understand, though, why this cover didn't come with the phone.

Despues de meses buscando la cubierta para carga inalambrica (ni siquiera en la pagina oficial de Samsung USA la tienen ya) la encontre en Amazon de Mexico. Llego al dia siguiente en su empaque original, con garantia y todo a la perfeccion. Funciona perfectamente bien con el cargador inalambrico para Galaxy S6 y carga el equipo en el mismo tiempo que por cable USB! Hace el telefono un poco mas robusto, pero no estorba ni pesa. Vale cada centavo!!

Yes, it is a bit thicker. Think of it as if the back of the phone was raised up to the same level as the camera bump.Texture feels different, but still soft and great to pet.I got this mainly for the waterproofness of it, as the cards that go under the stock backplate can impede on waterproofing and is a little sketchy.
