my 2 cents and *spoiler alert*(tried to be vague )
Definitely still a solid series but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous installments. We know what the new enemy is capable of but I really would have liked to have seen them fleshed out a bit more. I am really curious as to how the malware weapons were introduced into the game. I may have missed it if it was mentioned in the earlier books. I did get a kick out of Sophia's method to get two faction leaders to play nice for an infernal mission and makes me curious to see how things may play out in the future. The book was a little light on stats/mechanics because Grimjack was working on a new abilities tree but this book was still definitely worth the read. If you have enjoyed the series thus far then you won't be disappointed.

Eh
The books are ok but after a while you get tired of reading a story that is driven by the stupid decisions of the protagonist

Grim Jack is the MAN!!!
This was my favorite book in the series. I love the core group, but was blown away by the addition of Osmark and Jay Taylor. Forcing them to have to work together was great!! It gives you excellent insight into what makes Osmark tick and why he is the way that he is. Both he and Jack learn from one another and actually grow as leaders and players because of the experience. This was an excellent book and Hunter really ratchets up the stakes.

Fast paced and entertaining installment of VGO!
Viridian Gate Online is probably my very favorite series in the litRPG genre so I leapt at the chance to read it ASAP. This installment of VGO begins right in the middle of all the action. I devoured this fast paced novel in just days. The characters are realistic, they have their flaws and their strengths and begin to feel like old friends that you could easily go out to grab a cup of Western Brew and chat with. You even begin to develop some fondness for characters you may have previously despised as the novel delves deeper into their stories. I really enjoyed seeing the characters evolve themselves and in their relationships in this book.Continuing to delve into the appearance of the troubling malware blades threatening the safety of what was supposed to be a refuge for humans escaping the end of the real world and the corruption spreading across the land we are also made aware that even the gods and goddesses of VGO are not immune to the danger. Jack and his group are forced to work together with former rivals while exploring a new realm and face a powerful evil threatening the safety of his patron goddess Sophia and her realm. The familiar is mixed with new scenery and storyline to keep things interesting as the team overcomes incredible odds, fighting for their right to survive in the VGO world. The only thing I was sad about was finishing it so quickly! James Hunter has done it again and I cannot wait for the next book!

An interesting series
This series is a good example of the LitRPG genre. Storyline is decent and has tracked well through series. Be interested to see where it goes from here.

Slaughterfest
The action starts and doesn't stop. Dungion dives, seemingly unbeatable boss monsters and a goddess needing rescuing. The protagonists are forced to work together for the survival of VGO. For some reason this one didn't grab me as hard as the previous ones hence the 4 stars. The skills and abilities are as awesome as ever as are the descriptions of lairs and monsters. Victory in this one goes to the clever not the buff. I'll be reading the next entry.

Is it even the best one in this series?
I liked the epic scale, the author comes up with. OK, sometimes it is a bit like: sure, beating Onyxia in World of Warcraft Vanilla with two people was a thing to do. Not! But I sort of forgive the book it's now and than logic inconsistencies, as the narrative is really about taking me on an adventure and less on the prove ride on game theory. I hope that there will be a part 6 one day. Thanks for writing, I enjoyed reading!

A highly enjoyable side quest
This story seemed more of a side quest rather than a continuation of the main story line (or main quest). A highly significant and major side quest. It also blurs some of the previously well-defined lines between the good guys and the bad guys leaving you with a much more realistic shades-of-grey view of the VGO world.Highly recommended
