Have wore out 3 other pairs of them! Tough and comfortable! Review: The number one boot for service members. - Plain and simple these are the best boots in the military. The only thing that sucks is the price. They are comfortable and fit great after break in. I've had these boots for years and I mean more than 5 years. This has to be my third time buying this specific model of boot and this is the most I have ever had to pay for this boot but at least the fit is still the same. If you are new to buying boots get these boots before they stop making them for some reason. These are the best out there.

Very expensive, updated version of the Bates Anabon
This is a great duty boot for LE, corrections etc., if a bit overpriced, but should NOT be mistaken for a load-bearing mission-type boot. After serving as a grunt for 12 years, I knew as soon as I put my feet in these, that they would never hold up to real abuse, contrary to some reviews I've seen from some guy who was yammering about carrying a 20-lb ruck. Sorry but my LBE weighed more than that. Heck, I carried more water weight than that. For real grunt-types who routinely have to carry rucks in the 65-80-lb range, this boot would be less than useless. For those loads, for the sake of your feet and joints, stick with Altama, Danner and the usual suspects. Fast-forward a decade or so, to my current occupation in corrections and you have a totally different story. For long days on concrete and steel, these boots will keep your feet cool and comfortable and they are a pretty good looking boot, as well. There's no break-in period necessary and they fit great right out of the box. I can already tell that the sole is going to be trouble. It's really soft and comfy now but it is certainly going to wear quickly. My best guess is that, in my current boot rotation, these MIGHT make it two years. You can bet that, if you're a cheapskate and you wear these every day, you might not even get a year out of these soles. Naturally, if you're in a position where you do a lot of sitting, you'll see it differently. Speaking of the soles.... If you work in an environment where chemical irritants, such as OC, are somewhat omnipresent, watch your step. These are not great on slick concrete, as there isn't a huge surface area of the boot sole that actually makes contact with the surface you're walking on. Just beware. These are what I consider high-end duty/uniform boots and I have no doubt that they will serve perfectly as such. After many years on my feet, footwear is not an area where I'm willing to compromise and the $170.00 price tag phased me not in the least. These replace my last pair of Bate's Anabons (now discontinued) in my current rotation of 2 pairs of Bate's Defenders, 2 pairs of Altama hot weather boots and a pair of Rocky Fort Hood boots. The Fort Hoods are relatively sorry, which explains why you can find them for about $90, all over the internet. These S2Vs are an immediate and dramatic upgrade. I'm expecting great things out of them, which means I'll soon forget that I'm even wearing them. In short, KNOW what you're buying a boot for, then make your purchase. These are not Danners. These are not Matterhorns. These are not Altamas. Don't expect them to hold up to abuse as though they were!

A Solid, Reliable Boot
Comfortable and takes a beating. Some of the best footwear I have ever owned for longevity and comfort. They do squeak when I walk but that's small potatoes.

comfortable, well made boots
I'm in the Navy Reserve and got these because the ones I were issued way back when were getting really uncomfortable. I read some of the reviews on this one that said "fits like a sneaker". I wouldn't go that far, but they ARE comfortable boots. I'm active now, so wearing them every day, 8 hours a day. Very comfortable and the uppers aren't flimsy like my issued boots were. I used to have to wear hiking socks over my compression socks so my feet wouldn't hurt. I don't have to do that with these Rockys. (Which is good, because if I did, they'd be toot ight on my feet).I'm really glad I got these and wonder why I waited so long! Also, they are on the Navy's list of approved boots for NWU III.

Scam
Was sent a used pair of boots with chewing gum on the sole of the boot. The first indicator was the laces were knotted at the ends with creased leather. Soles also had dirt and wear.

My 3rd pair.
I have a pair of these boots I have used for the military. I purchased this make and model several year ago when they first came out and I was going to iraq in 2007. They are tan. I beat the crap out of them, loved them, and two years later replaced them. These were all the SV2 boots, but they were tan. Now, I do still have the second tan pair and I still love them. What I did do was pick up a pair in Black. I got these black ones for my motorcycle. I have these for the waterproof ability when riding. I use and like the fit and feel of them. You can tell a good boot. They also fit great out of the box. The black ones are a bit more stiff than the tan boots, but its the type of leather and to be expected. I have not had a chance to check how or if they maintain the 100% waterproof ability, but that happens when I get caught in the rain. So, these boots are not cheap,, nor do they feel cheap. I spent 17 years in the Infantry, and I can say that a good pair of boots means a lot. I like these better than my Danners. No regrets, I will buy them again.
