Very solid. Worth it.
I previously owned a much cheaper shock collar which functioned but after a year, no longer held a charge. This one has a much more solid build than those. The quality is evident. I was torn between a few different models from Sport Dog and decided this one had the most flexibility. First, I wanted the ability to use either the audible beep, vibration or shock. I also wasnโt sure what level of shock was needed for my 70 lb Golden who is mild mannered but occasionally very stubborn. This one provided all 3 levels to allow me to find the right level. Turns out, it only took low at level 3 to get his attention. I like that itโs orange, in case I misplace itโ easier to see where I dropped it. Like the screen, it provides exactly the info I need (shock level, battery remaining) What I really like is that itโs water proof. My dog loves to swim, run in the snow, splash in mud puddles, etc and I donโt worry about having to take off the collar for those environments. As far as the shock, I only had to give him the juice twice. The first time, I had it set at medium and dog nearly jumped in the air when I hit the button. From there, I only needed to grab the remote and he knew I meant business and would follow the command provided. A few weeks passed and only a beep was needed to correct him. Then he decided to test the boundaries again as he ignored a command to stop as he was headed towards a place I didnโt want him to go. Hit him with the zap, at a much lower level then previously used. He stopped in his tracks and returned immediately. Have not had to provide any correction since. Overall, itโs expensive but itโs good quality with huge range, lots of options and the battery seems to last forever between charges. It is well worth the piece of mind it provides when hiking with my dog, off-leash.

Great product
It took some time to train our dog to stay on the property but with guidance and patience it worked. We only had to use the vibration for the first week. After that she responded to just the audible signal.

Life changing - absolutely!
Got this setup for an adventurous Golden-Lab mix. Heโs a little over 2 yrs old and developed a habit of taking off into the wild with his friends when Iโd let him out to do his business or even when we were all hanging out in the backyard and didnโt pay attention to him for a few minutes. Truthfully though, he had way worse habits before. Over time, patience was hard to come by and we do love this creature, so had to do something to keep him safe. We quickly learned that he doesnโt like electricity, and within days heโs been a better more obedient dog and even playing fetch is a better experience. Both the collar and remote are easy to charge, and the charge holds fairly well, meaning itโs enough to charge the collar once a week, the remote holds a charge even better. Like I said, after about 3 instances of vibrating him he quickly learned what comes after the beep so heโs been soooooo much easier and better. Iโve made the mistake of not purchasing this product earlier thinking it was inhumane, basing that on very little knowledge really. This device could have spare the dog from being hit by vehicles 2x and us from a whole lot of heartache and frustration when going through the chewy youngster stage. Also, it was dropped in water and it didnโt affect the device at all. Wonderful product. I wish there was a tutorial video thatโs easy to locate and explains all the different settings. For a beginner user it wasnโt so easy peasy to figure those out. Update: A year or so later, this is still going strong, working as itโs supposed to. The collar needs weekly+ charging, but the remote can go on one charge for months. Itโs been in rain, mud and still works like a charm. From pups perspective, itโs really really a rarity to have to buzz him, a beep is enough to get his attention back on track. Blessing! Update 2 - review has been hidden by a sensitivity filter. Really wonder why. Itโs a wonderful product, let that be known.

Great training aid
Make sure the antenna is tight before you head out. I lost that my first time out and about $30 to replace. I let my dog run off leash when we are off trail in the forest setting. The beep signals her to return. I also use a whistle and a โheyโ command for her return. I use the beep and โdrop itโ command. It also helps her not chase deer when I say NO!, she listens. These things were hard to teach a young, energetic spaniel. She is learning quickly now. Iโm am able to start to bike with her and know she wonโt run off. You can program the buttons to do different thingsโwe mainly use tone and vibrate. We use this device everyday for at least an hour and the battery lasted about 3 months before I had to charge it. This device has worked great and the distance seems to work good even in the trees in hilly terrain. I have used other similar productsโmake sure you get one with plenty of range. It doesnโt take long for a dog to range out. I recommend this deviceโit has everything I needed.

Transmitter will not charge - Sport Dog replacing entire package
This is our second Sport Dog Product with transmitter failures. Our first was a lower end model who's transmitter battery failed to keep a charge after about 9 months of residential use on a Sheppard for behavior and training. I thought I would get an upgrade by purchasing a new premium 1275 series with the OLED display. I expected better technology and for it to be trouble free for at least a year or two with the premium lithium battery option. Battery life is far batter in the premium model. Controls are better and the display is wonderful as is confirms battery life on the remote and makes deciphering the stimulation and level ready information. After only 10 or so charges, however, the handheld transmitter will not accept a charge at all. Will not recognize the charger is connected or charge. I've cleaned the contacts on both end, plugged and unplugged it, played with the cables - nada zip. The remote is sealed and must be opened with a TORX driver. There is no way to open it without a new tool. No way to reset the transmitter or disconnect the power to force a reset. We finally got through to Sport Dog Customer service. They are kindly replacing the full package - Collar, Transmitter and Power adapter for us under warranty.

You have to look at the transmitter all the time to see which dog youโre correcting.
Iโve been using sport dog collars for 12 years and only have had to replace weakening batteries over time and I have never had a failure. I have an old single dog trainer (1/4 mile model) that is amazing. I can just program it for multiple dogs but your left with only shock or tone for all 3 buttons which is very limiting if you have dogs with very different tempermentsโฆso I bought this one im reviewing. This one Iโve used for over a year and continue to do so butโฆThe problem with this system is you have to look at the transmitter to see what dog youโre on. If you have to change dogs theres at least a second or two as you look down and push buttons. No good for serious training, okay for just getting your dog to listen and come back. I would pay $100 more for this same collar and give it 5 stars if it had a textile rocker switch so you knew which dog youโre correcting without looking and delays with correction. Other than that this is a 5 star product.

Off leash walkIng my Black&Tan coonhound
Itโs nice to have control of my coonhound on off leash walks and not fear him taking off if he hits a sent. After going threw a few of the less expensive e-collars that broke I finally decided to spring for this one and Iโm so happy I did. The collar works great with a very wide range of functions and out to distances further than I feel comfortable with my hound going. The tone is loud and can be heard about 20yd away so itโs very hard for the dog to ignore which results in less corrections. Battery life is decent on the collar with about a week if we donโt turn it off. The remote battery is going on over a month with out needing a charge yet.

Overall pleased
Distance is great, adjustability is awesome in the collar itself and the intensity of the collar. Only hangup I have is that the on off button is not in a great spot and can easily be inadvertently turned off rendering it useless when you need it. Obviously you realize this when trying to use our and the pup didn't respond. Only other thing I would change is that there should be a way to tell what the remaining battery life on the collar is at any given moment. Remote has an indicator though. Manual says it's good for 40 hours depending on use, I only charge both every 4 days and it still works fine when they go on the charger. Overall a great purchase and works as intended.

Well made
Iโve been using e-collars for over 30 years - sportdog makes a reliable and functional unit. Easy to add a second collar. Robust. Used daily. I like the way this unit attaches to the charging interface - string upgrade compared to the attachment system 10 years ago. Easy to switch among dogs. Well designed screen layout. Buttons easy to use and understand. Would buy again.

Great training tool.
I use this with most of my dogs, great training tool, vibration and stimulation. Has 2 different buttons for low stimulation then second bottoms automatically goes up 2. Vibration is separate button. Easy to use. Has long lasting charge.

Came with a broken charger-Used it for six weeks
Great product until it wasn't โ and good luck getting help Started off really impressed with this trainer. The OLED screen is bright and easy to read, range is solid, and it worked exactly as advertised. For the first month and a half, no complaints at all. Then the charging station for the collar was broken- came broken I figured. Not the collar itself โ just the charger. Which means I now have a perfectly functional collar I can't charge, and an expensive paperweight. Here's where it gets frustrating. Went back to Amazon โ return window had closed, so they couldn't help. Reached out to SportDOG directly โ they actually have the replacement part, which is great. Except they won't ship to Canada. So as a Canadian customer, I'm completely out of options through no fault of my own. Used it for six weeks. Six weeks. That's it. The product itself showed promise, but a charger failing at 1.5 months is a quality control issue, and having zero recourse as a Canadian buyer is a serious problem. If you're in Canada and something goes wrong after the return window, you're on your own. Buy with caution โ especially if you're north of the border.

Great E-Collar
I really love this collar!! The only collar I've found where you can have two (or more) dogs on different levels without having to fiddle with stim level locks (ETC) or some super huge and super pricey dual dial remote (Dogtra). Plus the receiver is completely waterproof and I actually trust this claim with this collar as there is not even a charging port for water to get in (charges by what looks like a magnet). Great product!

Solid Product.
Great product. Easy to program, use and the screen is easy to read in the field. This is my second SportDog controller set as my previous one needed replacement after 10+ years of solid service with 2 labs. The new cradle recharging set up on the collar is a big improvement over the previous plastic flap/insert method used on previous collars, especially since the plastic flap would eventually wear out and fall off after continuous use making the water proof aspect somewhat questionable. Overall worth the money spent.
