Not so quiet after a year
After about a year of use it now gets very noisy. Rattling noise coming from the large rotating filter inside

Valuable investment I have made in a long time!
My old DeLonghi unit has failed after the warranty, that was 6 months ago. I did a lot of research and eventually decided on a desiccant dehumidifier from Ecoair. I decided to go for Ecoair's DD128 due to its new design which looks rather nice. My house is very damp with humidity reaching 90%! I put this brand new DD128 in my kitchen when the humidity was 92% and I cannot believe it, after 3 hours on the high mode, it warmed up the kitchen from 16 degrees and humidity at 92% to 20 degrees and the humidity 76%. This is amazing, even my old Delonghi cannot do this! I left it on high for a couple of days to get the humidity level down to 60% and switched it to the Auto mode. Now, on Auto setting, I save energy by 50% and the humidity in the kitchen is well maintained at about 60%. So it now consumes 330 watt per hour but I notice that the unit does not consume 330 watt all the time, sometimes it goes down to under 40 watt. So I called Ecoair to ask them why this is the case and they explained that the unit is intelligently detecting the humidity and temperature and only consumes 330 watt when it needs to (ie the humidity is creeping up) and may even switch to the high mode if the humidity suddenly climbs up to very high levels like before and then goes back down to a low 40 watts when humidity level is maintained at a nice comfortable level under 60%. This is a god-send for me, I can now just leave it running on Auto without worrying too much about changing the settings. I was advised by Ecoair to put the dehumidifier in the wettest area of my house and this is actually the entrance hall to my house, not the kitchen. So now I leave it in the entrance hall (where I now put my laundry rack) and leave my kitchen door ajar when I am not cooking to let the dehumidifier suck out humidity from my kitchen, which is the place I use most during the day. This is one of the most valuable investment I have made in a long time, now that my humidity level is controlled, I am seeing mould and condensation on my walls and windows as a thing of the past! Brilliant piece of kit.

Stopped all condensation in my flat
Bought unit about 4 weeks ago. I live in a medium sized studio apartment and suffered from mould and heavy condensation around the double glazed windows. Condensation completely gone. Not anticipating return of mould either. Sufficiently quiet when on low to run during the night. Approximately 1.25 litres decanted every morning. Use the clothes horse rather than dryer for laundry saving a pretty penny. Laundry successfully dries overnight, even on low, but the water catchment tank will be, understandably, near to or completely full. Th unit is not expensive to run and has the useful side effect of blowing warmish exhaust air, ergo ameliorating my heating bill too! Could not too highly recommend.

Does what it says
Set this up in the bedroom, we had a little problem with black mould under the bay window, we have ran this for about two weeks, the mould has faded and no more growth seems to be growing, I empty this about twice a day as I Dont want it filling to the top, and the amount of water it collected surprised me, would recommend this product.

Good for dehumidifying, not good for removing smells (ioniser)
I needed 2 good dehumidifiers urgently because I have a sensitive wife and daughter with asthma and allergy issues. I thought that if I get a dehumidifier I may as well get an ioniser to go with it and make the air even clearer. They say that ionisers remove over 99% of smells in the air? Hmmmm, I'm not so sure about that. To start with, I have to mention the smell that a lot of other people have mentioned. Our 2 units were shipped separately and when we received the first one we were quite shocked at the smell. This thing stunk and stunk a hell of a lot more than any reviewer had described. This was an issue because our little girl's asthma can be triggered by intense smells so we had to turn it off well before she went to bed otherwise we couldn't put her in her room.I immediately thought this was an issue and perhaps an isolated case otherwise others would have surely mentioned the intense smell. I contacted EcoAir who told me that the smell goes away over time and it had started to decrease in the first few days but remained very obvious still.By the time our second unit arrived the smell was still there but improving and plugging the second unit in confirmed my suspicion that the first unit was an isolated case. The second unit had the smell that was described by other reviewers and was much less intense and more tolerable.I have had these both for about 6 weeks now and the smell is practically gone but there is still a hint of it when you have the unit running inside a closed room and walk in.This brings me back to the ioniser comment... If this smell is caused by the dehumidifying unit for whatever reason, shouldn't the ioniser eliminate it? I would think yes. On the other hand, if the smell is caused by the ioniser part of the unit, doesn't this defeat part of its purpose which is to remove smells? Perhaps.I can't say whether it is effective as an ioniser scientifically, it may in fact be killing a lot of organisms in the air but for us the main reason we wanted the ioniser as part of the dehumidifier was for its ability to remove smells and I can't say that the air has been without smell since its use.The dehumidifier part does its job just fine and we are generally happy with their use. We have managed to limit the humidity and keep it at ideal levels since we got these so overall they are covering our needs.–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––PROS–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––Good dehumidifierLow noise in 'low mode'Use of timer and controlsCompact size–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––CONS–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––Ioniser doesn't remove smells from the airNoisy in 'high' (too loud to sleep with it running and I am not a light sleeper)Fiddly water catcher bucket/lid system

Good but costly to run
This dehumidifier works really well and I’m very happy with the unit. Just beware though as its not cheap to run and it uses approximately 600w. I did think the eco setting was 300w but it alternates depending on the humidity levels in the area. Definitely starts to mount up on you electricity bill.
