The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey features two CDs of original score by Academy Award winner Howard Shore recorded at famed Abbey Road studios by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. One of today's most respected, honoured, and active composers and music conductors, Howard Shore previously worked with director Peter Jackson on The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Additionally, it includes an original song entitled Song of the Lonely Mountain, performed by Neil Finn (Crowded House).

Great soundtrack
The Lord of the Rings soundtrack is a firm favourite in our house and we play it to our 5 year old son at night to help him settle. After watching the The Hobbit films, he asked if he could have it's soundtrack for his 6th birthday. We love this soundtrack just as much as The Lord of the Rings and can't recommend it highly enough.

I love it!
Absolutely beautiful music from a fantastic movie.I loved every bit if this cd and have kept listening to it since I have got it.I also loved the song by Neil Finn and the song sang by my favourite Thorin and the Dwarves ,very touching and what a voice!I'm very happy I bought this cd and can't wait to get a soundtrack from the second movie.

Fantastic soundtrack
I loved the film and quickly bought the soundtrack as soon as it was released. I love the running themes throughout the tracks. I particularly like how it still maintains the same feel and sound of Lord of the Rings, yet manages to have a very distinct style that makes it stand out as a separate film. Cannot wait for the next films and soundtracks!

A good CD with a comprehensive set of music from the film. My only disappointment was that some of the songs from the film ('there is an inn' and deep underground in goblin town') were not included.

Enjoyed the book, the film and the music.
The CD's are very good because of Howard Shore's music and the orchestra and choir are superb.

Bliss!
The music is just lovely- cant stop playing it and the 2 songs are beautiful - just a shame it comes in 2 CD's - but understand why - so much music cannot fit into 1 CD - if you love the film you will not be disappointed

Another great Howard Shore album
Loved this, another great album by Howard Shore. The only thing that puzzled me is that there is a track missing as for some reason Blunt the Knives has been removed from this.
