The hard drive easily connected with a cable that came in the kit
Out of the box I had some password and connectivity issues. Amcrest stands behind their equipment and with some phone calls and emails will send you replacements if needed. The Amcrest tech support team can “team-view” into your computer and help you through connection issues. You can see what they are doing every step. They determined my issues were with a faulty Ethernet cable. The cameras have decent picture quality with a generous field of view and digital zoom. The NVR is plain (no buttons), but serves the purpose. I installed a WD Purple 2 terrabyte hard drive without any issues (4 screws to remove the NVR casing and 4 screws to secure the drive). The hard drive easily connected with a cable that came in the kit. The Iphone app allow access to a live feed and alows the set-up of motion triggers based upon a desired area within the cameras’ field of view. The Amcrest system is always recording and will send push notifications or emails with clips if desired. The user interface appears outdated and clumsy, but it is functional. Overall, I think the Amcrest system is a good deal. My process would have gone smoother if I wouldn’t have had bad RJ45 connectors on the cable that I ran through the wall. My hats off to the Amcrest team for sticking with the diagnosis and making sure I was up and running. I think POE is the way to go for cameras. One cat5 cable per camera that powers and provides the feed, by plugging them into the NVR. Hopefully the equipment stands the rest of time. Pretty easy and pretty good.

Doesn't come with a harddrive to record
Excellent system except doesn't come with a harddrive to record. 1tb harddrive is 40.00 and very easy to install.

Best Camera System hands down
We have a restaurant and used this system. It was very easy to install. Needed a little help with remote viewing called the company and talked with Raymond Hayes and he got me going right away.

Everything arrived great, all cameras worked perfectly with a clear picture. Had to contact customer service for a password reset request. They where very helpful and got me what I needed. Everything works great now and couldn't be happier.
