When the battery goes out on your expensive cordless finish nailer, what do you do? Bite the bullet and buy another (pricey) battery is what I did. I have been impressed by how long the gun will operate on a single charge- all day with near constant use. I don't use this battery daily, or even weekly, so I didn't get that much use out of the original battery. I'd estimate it got used twenty times per year and lasted about seven years, so ~140 uses for $99. I saw a number of Li batteries for sale around $40, but several commenters warned against them as not appropriate for the DeWalt tool. I don't know about them, but this battery works well.

I was worried that the battery would fit our older model drill but it fit perfectly and works great. On to building lots of stuff now!

Dewalt 18 Volt XRP batteries at their cheapest prices. If you need several batteries you can beat the price on Amazon for the 3, 4, or 5 pack. Some folks charge more than buying a new one to pull the old batteries and replace the pack plus all the shipping for something that isn't light. These batteries have the Dewalt 3 year warranty, so if they go bad before then you can get them replaced. The cost was about $55.80 per battery, at Home Depot they get $89+tax for a single. The double pack that they get once in a while is $69.50 each + tax in our area. You just can't beat the Amazon price on these new Dewalt 18v XRP batteries!

The DEWALT DC9096 XRP 18-Volt 2.4 Amp Hour NiCd Pod Style Battery was just what I needed for my old Dewalt set of tools. The only negatives are the new battery is hard to remove from any of the tools the pinch points are very difficult to push in to extract the battery. The other complaint is the long wait time for delivery.

Needed new 18V battery for DeWalt drills. Compared to my old batteries, this battery charged quickly and was powerful.
