Excellent Quality
I clamped this onto my dining room table with no problems.. I fit a piece of plastic in between the clamp and the table so as not to make a mark. This facilitates easy work with my rotary tools.

Works well for the price
I really like this product and use it a few hours a week. The foot pedal is a little hard told an exact RPM but I put a little bit of wheel bearing grease on the flexible shaft and it really helped.

not for me
I'm sorry I don't usually write reviews but the product itself has this ungodly smell, it's like that really stinky smell you get from old tools, and it's covered in this black residue. Just a heads up, maybe I got a weird one. Returning, but looks sturdy.

Much nicer than the older reviews might suggest...
I was reluctant to order this flex shaft hanger based on other reviews but I'm delighted with the unit I received. Maybe the manufacturer has cleaned up its act? There was no excess grease, the parts fir well and while the clamp is indeed large, it fits well on the edge of my bench. I protected the top surface of my bench by putting a little foam under the clamp but that was just because it's a beautiful butcher block and probably a little too classy for gem cutting and other messy things I do on it. The lock on the telescoping arm seems quite strong but when I decide on a comfortable height and angle I'll wrap the junction between the two rods with a little silicon tape. If you haven't used it, silicon tape is duct tape's classy cousin. It has no glue and works by stretching tight and sticking to itself. That way, I can easily cut it off and use another piece to move the arm to another position. I would definitely recommend this unit.

Does the job.
It does the job. I use a foredom tx motor which is quite heavy. The hanger tends to lean some but the clamp is good. So far I’ve had no problems with it.

Very sturdy.
I bought another unit here on Amazon, it was ok but weak. This is the rotary tool hanger I was looking for all along. While the clamp may be a bit large fora hobby bench, it is perfect for the garage work bench. This is a solid and versatile unit and I am very happy with it. Yes, it is more expensive, but you do get what you pay for.If you are in the market for one of these hangers, this one will serve you well and last longer than the tool motor it supports.

Worked great - worth the extra cost
Bought a cheaper version (different brand) initially, but had to return that one because it was way too flimsy. This one works great for my heavy flex shaft motor, and I like the large very sturdy metal c-clamp used to secure it. Definitely worth the extra money!

Ok but not great! Won't use for intended purpose.
I read the reviews on this product and others for the use with a foredom. This seemed to have the best chance but was concerned about the mount. Once received I mounted to my work bench. I was pleasantly surprised how it mounted and how durable it seemed. There is also what I will call antislip coating on the screw pad. I thought the product was going to work great, until I added the extension rod and hanger. The extension rod fits loosely in the base rod. There is a screw to tighten which works ok. The hanger just sits in the extension rod. So it will easily rotate 360. For my setup and I would say for most using a foredom you will need to use most of the extension. With the extension used, everything gets wobbly. Without it extended it is solid but way to low for a foredom unless you want it to hang in front and below your bench. For me I want it sideways the direction I work and I would think most who have it on a bench. The other issue is the hanger. The torque on a foredom will start spinning the hanger. You can take some tape or other method to try and stop the movement. Then you have where the foredom actually hangs. It will move a lot for the same reasons. There is nothing to stop it. I tried using it for a day and was very annoyed with it. So I won't use it for my use case. I went to the hardware store and bought 3/4 pipe, 3/4 floor flang, 3/4 floor hanger. Made my own.
