Perfect fit for VW and useful location (covers the silly passenger airbag light).
Perfect fit for a phone in the most useful location on my VW (covers the passenger airbag light - but who cares).

Buy a Different one
The piece that holds your phone is the major issue. When you try to pull your phone out the whole thing comes out. Very poor design. Save your money and buy a different model that actually allows you to get your phone out with ease. Ordering a different one and wasted money on this product.

Got here earlier than the estimates, and it's what I hoped it would be. Will NOT fit a thick case.
Bottom line: It a five star idea with three star implementation. Fits in my 2019 GTI S, but it took nearly a month to arrive, was a pain to mount, will pull your hazard light box right out of the dash when you try to remove it, the "carbon fiber" look is a small sticker that vaguely resembles carbon, the rest is cheap black plastic, and it won't fit a thick case BUT if none of that is a problem, it's a great mounting spot.Longer take: I saw either this product or one very much like it on a youtube video for cheap GTI "mods" (shout out to Cameron Alford and carmaspeed...good car content there for a variety of vehicles). It looked like a handy spot that doesn't interfere with the vents or the hazard lights button. I didn't want a vent-mount clip that blocked air flow (I live in south Florida...AC flow is a must!) and I didn't want to mount or rely on a suction cup, either dash or windshield based, as I've had both and had both eventually fail and fall off, leaving a gross ring. I had a cupholder mount that I absolutely love, but the positioning was really awkward in this car vs the mk 5 GTI I bought it for.It took quite a while to get here from China (almost a month), but the original estimate was a delivery date between July 8 to 27 (ordered on June 15) and it actually arrived on July 7, so it got here quicker than expected.Mounting it was unexpectedly tricky. I thought it would basically clip right on, but I pushed and prodded and wiggled and swore and it just wouldn't clip on. I could get the top two clips on pretty easily, but the bottom two wouldn't go. I was genuinely starting to question if it was defective. I don't know if I just swore at it enough or if it stretched out a bit, but after about 5 or 6 minutes of pushing, it finally clicked (literally). And it's on there GOOD now. More on that in a bit.My Pixel 6 phone case (a double-layered hard plastic shell over a rubber base) absolutely WILL NOT fit in this mount. If I remove the hard plastic shell, the rubber case fits pretty well, and it fits beautifully with no case on at all. My wife's relatively thin case fit fine, too. And it's a nifty little gravity mount, where you drop the phone in and the arms raise up and hold the phone in place. As long as the case isn't too big and the phone fits into the arms' clips, there's really no chance your phone can fall out.Taking the phone out of the mount requires a delicate touch. If you pull too hard, you'll pull the whole arm and ball socket mechanism out of the part that mounts to the car.The part that actually clips on is basically impossible to get off by pulling it. Maybe if you used one hand to hold the hazard box in place and the other to gently wiggle/use a trim tool, buuuut there's an easier (though slightly more alarming) way. In the video I saw, he noted in his quick review that pulling on the clip would pull the entire hazard light box out, and sure enough, mine does it, too. Pull gently or you might disconnect the wires! Once you've got the hazard box out, you can slide the clip part off if you decide to remove the mount permanently, but the mount point is so unobtrusive that unless you hate the mount, I'd recommend leaving it there full time and just putting the ball socket portion away if you want a cleaner look when you're not using the mount. The hazard box slides back in with a nice click, for the record, and seems no worse for the wear. All in all, this is a 5 star idea with some flaws that keep it from being a 5 star product. That said, if it works as well as it seems it will, I'd buy another one if this one somehow breaks.

Meh. Needs glue to sit right
Did fit over the emergency light button but the holder needs to be glued into place or it will fall off all the time. It also only fits in vertical position which puts the charging cable over the screen blocking view. I would use this as a last resort for a phone holder on a mk7 golf r

Fits perfectly. Snaps right into place and holds strong without any need for adhesive. Allows for full movement and functionality of both air vents. My Samsung Galaxy S8 slides right in without the case, but when the case is on it has to be pressed into place. The plastic feels a little cheap but seems durable enough to do the job. The biggest issue I have is that the charging cable that came with my phone does not fit through the space provided without forcing it in. This makes it a bit of a struggle to plug my phone in while driving.
