Fantastic value
I’m very impressed with this sub. I have been involved in hometheater since 1999. I started out klipsch subwoofer then moved to paradigm. I currently own 6 svs subs over two homes. I needed an inexpensive sub for my bedroom to connect to my zvox soundbase. I wanted something small to place inside my ikea kallax cabinet. I compared this to $300 kanto8 sub. Even though the Dayton has a small amp, it was able to creat impactful deep bass for its modest size . It is best for small to median size rooms. Ive also have experience with the polk -pw10. It’s a good sub, but is more “boomy” then the Dayton. Build quality is also excellent. The cabinet is very solid. I can’t imagine how much better this sub could be with a bigger amp. This was the best purchase for $123. For anyone on a budget this is the best sub.

Outstanding sound!
Best of its Class. Outstanding sound!I researched online for an affordable unit to get even more bass to my Zbox SB500 sound bar so i decided to research a subwofer and found the Dayton Audio SUB-800 8-Inch 80 Watt Powered for $99.95 so i added it. Once hooked it to the TV headphone with the wire that came from the soundbar, set Gain and Crossover at 3/4 you won't believe these two units combined how great music or movie listening experience you get, very satisfied and at 3/4 of Sono's price.Pro: sound.Cons: does not come with aBasics 3.5mm to 2-Male RCA Adapter Audio Stereo Cable. No remote control that you can use.As for the Zbox SB500 sound bar I was amazed by the quality of the sound. The price so much affordable than the Sono's option, so i decided to give it a try. Once at home I installed it on top of the TV and the sound is incredible. Volume TV at 8, and Blue Ray or Netflix at 11. The bass is incredible. For best sound quality I set up accuvoice at sd3, output leveling at noOL, bass 3. Treble HI 2, surround to sd 3. Sound is Crystal clear, bass is outstanding, beyond expectations. 3D sound is a plus, can hear sounds with this bar I did not hear with my previous sound system when watching the same moviesYou wont be dissapointed. You yube videos is like being at the concert.Try these units, and watch movies in Netflix. Sound is Great!Your living Room will never be the same!

Dayton Sub
I really like the sound of the sub in my small workshop. Works well with my WiiM Amp.

A sub that's good enough that you can't 'hear' it.
Very impressive performance for the price. In my classroom at school I have a pair of Audioengine A5+ speakers with the A8 subwoofer which fill a large room full of students very nicely. For a small (12ft x 12ft) room at home I decided that a pair of the A5+ speakers would do the job on their own. They are good (and go down to around 50 Hz), but I really felt they needed some filling in at the bottom end. I couldn't justify an expensive unit like the A8 for such a small space but I didn't want to ruin good music with something 'cheap' (boomy or mushy). Based on reviews I got the Dayton Sub-800, and I'm glad I did.On the minus side it didn't come with any connecting cables. I have a bag of spare cables left over from other systems but for some users this might be a frustration, which is why I've given it 4 instead of 5 stars. On the plus side: I plugged everything in, set crossover to 80 Hz and gain to halfway, powered up, started a liquid dubstep mix..... Huh? Couldn't hear the sub! Confusion for a second or two until I tried turning the gain up and things got boomy, turned the gain down and the bass disappeared. I hadn't expected this level of quality - when properly set it merges with the regular speakers so nicely you can't hear it as a separate unit but you get a richer sound down to a much lower frequency. Simply outstanding at the price.ps: two things you might want to note:1) Don't pass judgement until you've played it for a few hours. It seemed to me that like high end systems it took a little while to loosen up.2) Even though it is very impressive at the price, don't expect it to do everything that high end systems will do. It's only rated down to 40 Hz so you'll miss out a bit on those bone-tingling infra-frequencies.

Room shaking chest vibrating crystal clear bass
I never understood the people saying this speaker doesn't go deep enough, or can't fill a large room. Those people are spoiled $1000 sub audiophiles. If you are a normal person, who wants deep thundering bass for a cheap price hear me out.The bass THUNDERS. It's SO deep I have to turn the volume down to nearly nothing at night so it doesn't disturb the neighbors. When I turn the gain up more then 3/4ths of the way (on low volume) I feel like my head is gearing to explode. It's so deep it feels like you're at a concert. Audiophiles are too picky man, unless you're trying to fill a massive room, you don't need the 1200. You don't need the 1000. This thing is a monster, it's like a foot tall, and the driver is 8". I came from a 4" sub I didn't know it could GET this massive or deep.Along with being powerful, the sound quality you get for your money is unparalleled. I like to turn my speakers off sometimes and just listen to how detailed and tight the bass is. It's not boomy, there's no rattling noises, it's tight and clear, and adds depth to your music/show/game whatever. I've had subs before that sound boxy, artificial or fake, that is not the case. This thing is the real deal.

Good value for a sub that provides the bass floor
This fills the role I was looking to fill, which is not to shake the house and rattle the cupboards, but just to provide the bass floor that was missing. It does that well, giving movies the added resonance. The build is high quality, and the thing just works, and I think it looks understated and unobtrusive with its all-black veneer and finish. If you're looking for an 8" driver with musicality, I don't see how you can go wrong.

Excellent sub!
This subwoofer is a perfect companion to our soundbar. Low bass is not boomy like some of the bigger subs. This one retains detail in the lows that is more realistic.
