It gets moderately hot but does not have an on/off switch. For the money I guess it does the job but I would spend a few more dollars to upgrade.

I only use it on dry hair, I've never tried it on wet.

Q: The instructions say the red light turns white when the unit is ready, but mind didn't . Should I get a replacement? Seemed to work fine.

No my light stays red but I have no problem. I love these curling brushes. I like it red so I don't forget to unplug it.
