Great Game
My grandson loves this game and it has sharpened his motor skills. He has muscular dystrophy and playing the games has been very good for him.

Great game tho some bugs and a bit frustrating at times
Here is my honest opinion of the game, note I'm just starting at the second movie. I bought this game shortly after beating LEGO LOTR. I love the Hobbit movie and I absolutely loved LEGO LOTR. So naturally I figured this game would be very similar to LEGO LOTR with a nice Hobbit twist.First off the games map is much more condensed than LEGO LOTR. By condensed I mean a lot less roaming and more following the path. Which I was somewhat let down by because I love exploring. They've also added a mini map which makes navigating much more easier. The games graphic detail is much better than LOTR, it has a darker n detailed look. Also I find myself getting more frustrated with this game than LOTR, surprisingly this game does have an unusual amount of little bugs. The most frustrating thing in the game is the LEGO sets you build by selecting individual LEGO pieces, you are timed and if you start to slack or select the wrong piece you get penalized off the overall 20k studs you'll receive after completing. This was also seen in LEGO The Movie game, silly errors and a poor depiction of the missing LEGO piece makes this very frustrating at times. None of these are deal breakers just annoying at times.Overall the game is worth the money but don't expect a huge open world like the previous LEGO LOTR expect some bugs and some frustrating moments. But also expect an immersive story n gameplay. The combat also has been slightly tweaked, by holding down B your character does a special attack which makes for interesting combat. The game has great graphics and unlike LEGO LOTR, LEGO The Hobbit has far more humor which leaves the player laughing or at the least with a big ol grin.I will update as I get further in the game

Lego hits it out of the park, as usual
If you're looking for kid-friendly games you can enjoy playing with your kids or that they can also play and enjoy without you, the Lego games simply can't be beat. The co-op modes are fantastic and my son and I have had many fun hours playing a variety of Lego titles. When we started playing he had probably just turned 5 and couldn't do some of the more complicated puzzles or agility challenges, but that's the beauty of playing these games as a parent/kid team. I could handle some of the slightly tougher stuff (jumping from narrow ledge to narrow ledge while a timer ticks away, for instance) and he could run around having fun on his side of the split screen all the while.Like the Lord of the Rings Lego game, The Hobbit is slightly more complex than some of the other Lego titles we've played. A little tricky to get the hang of at first, but once we did we were both switching items, crafting, and exploring all the great aspects of this game. Theres a sandbox type element here, too, so you can plow through the story mode levels or simply run around and find fun side quests and things to do. We usually do a bit of both back and forth, then finish the story mode and start going back through in "free play" mode, where you can change into any of the characters you've collected and start racking up achievements, collecting mini-kit parts, etc.Just so much fun to be had here and hours upon hours of possible playtime.

Store good, Game quality wonderful, story mode disappointing
Loved the game, very cool with amazing open world experiences- however, I was really disappointed that Lego released this game with only the first two movies with no plans of a DLC for the last film which makes the game not only feel abruptly ended but incomplete. A ton of side quests is not enough to distract from the short story mode. If they were going to skip the final movie I feel they should've been more detailed and drawn out with the first two films but no, they rushed through cutscene and much of the story mode playable sections were bizarrely short with not a lot of options for exploration. Not to mention the majority of the quests are bland side missions (recover this, escort this person, craft this) and they never take advantage of the cool crafting mechanic they implemented. It breaks my heart, if they had just waited until the trilogy had finished and took longer to really add on to the game and it's open world setting, maybe added more Easter eggs and hidden rooms like the early XBOX and DS LEGO games it would've been perfect all around. But for now it's a decent game with so much untapped potential that feels unfinished attached to a company that has no intention of fixing it.

Good Family Fun
My wife and I love playing the Lego series games. They provide hours of enjoyment and don't give you nightmares (I'm looking at you, F.E.A.R. 3). Finishing the main storyline takes a decent chunk of time (about a month's worth of Friday evenings at about 3-4 hours per session). Once you finish the main story, you can then travel through Middle Earth on quests for special items and "bricks" that can be used to get the smith in Bree to build magical items for you. Trust me, it will make sense when play the game. If you've played the Lego Lord of the Rings game, then the controls (and even some of the characters) will be familiar. It's worth noting that the game covers movies 1 and 2, but NOT the third movie. I've read that the third movie will be released at some point as digital content for the Hobbit game, so we're anxiously awaiting that release.

Great and Fun Game for 9 Year Old Daughter
Okay I have to be honest up front, this review is really from my 9 year old daughter. I did NOT personally play the game. She thoroughly enjoyed and loved the game. What is not to love about Lego. At least per her. It keep her interest, and she was able to finish all the challenges within the game, without them being to easy or boring. She has played several of the Lego Xbox games, and this has been one of her favorites. Now that she has completed the challenges, she continues to play according to her "own" rules. She makes up her own stories and just goes about in the game. It keeps her entertained, and it's appropriate for her. Mommy loves that about it.

Love it so much!!! There is the main quest, following the story of the movies, and there is a lot of side quest too! You can take mission by talking to characters, and there is so much stuff to do!
