Make sure the lines are not obstructed
Ordered to replace my mechanical steering on a Sea Pro 180 DC. The installation went very well with the biggest problem being the hose routing. When bleeding, the starboard side did great but the port built pressure but would not purge. I contacted Hydrodrive and after much correspondence, I was advised to send the helm back for replacement. I had opened both bleeders to release any pressure bu when I started to loosen the port hose at the helm, it blew out with tremendous pressure. I realized then that the helm was doing its job and there had to be a blockage further aft. After removing the lines at the rear, I found something in the port hose just after the preinstalled fittings. Not wanting to go through the hose routing process again, I decided to cut the hose just past the fitting. I found something plastic in the cut off part completely blocking the hose. I was able to reattach the fittings on the hose, put everything back together and the bleeding went flawlessly. I still give the system 5 stars due to its quality and ease on installation. The problem with the hose I feel is a strange but isolated incident. Hats off to the Hydrodrive staff, they were quick to respond and were already expecting a return. This was not a problem that they could even imagine.

High quality. Well engineered.
Product arrived into New Zealand in 3 days but UPS here added GST again which I had to pay. It then took them a further 41 days to release the goods. The steering unit is beautifully made and works wonderfully. Unfortunately, UPS ruined the trade. Amazon need to credit me the first lot of GST they charged at the time of purchase.

Very Responsive to product defect
Excellent Company!!! Received the parts, easy install. Upon install I found a leak on the fitting due to a crack from top to bottom caused by product defect. I emailed the company and they promptly replied by replacing the fitting and fluid with extremely fast shipping. What could have been a nightmare turned into painless resolve.

Very well made. Delivery was quite fast.
Kit was complete and the instructions were included. The bleeding instruction was a little hard to follow but overall a good product.

Great value, high quality
I was blown away at the quality of this kit for the price. It took me a couple of days to install, but it was well worth the time to do so and made my life a lot easier. My previous original steering cable in my 38 year old boat finally froze up. To replace it would have been an engine off job and further it had a pretty significant bend to it as my boat is pretty short 16.5ft but with a fairly wide beam of close to 7'- so it would have been a huge pain to route a new traditional steering cable replacement.Anyway, not only is the kit exceptionally well made in terms of craftsmanship, but I drilled a small 1/2" "access hole"(that I later plugged) in the side of my splashwall in line with the mounting rod that holds the cylinder assembly so I could slide the rod through the engine mount without have to remove the engine and it worked brilliantly. Since I still have the access hole I can remove/service the assembly anytime I need as well by removing the plug.I did the bleeding myself(though it's easier with two people) and it's much easier to run hydraulic hose than bend steel steering cables. Now my ski boat is easy peezy to steer and far less tiring when I'm towing a tube. I'm loving it. So I paid less for an upgrade on the steering system than what it would have cost to have a dealer install an old cable style replacement that would have cost a lot in labor even if the cable itself was less. Win/win for me and the manufacturer of this setup. The only thing I'd recommend is 3 rods for the steering pump instead of 4 to cut down on perpendicularity issues as drilling long holes into the dash isn't easy. (I had to drill them oversize to account for issues with hand drilling- if I had been able to do them on a drill press it would have been a non-issue). That being said, it appears 4 rods is an industry standard for a steering mount, so there's that I guess.(but it's not needed with hydraulics)Overall I'd highly recommend this product.

Night and day from cabled steering system that was factory.
My cable went out in the fall when pulling the boat and we had to kicker it in. Decided after hours of research to go with this system from Europe. It is excellent in every regard. The fit and finish, the line thickness, and how it works! Install is pretty straight forward and went as well as expected without any hiccups. As many will tell you, it is the bleeding that is difficult. I called in my bike mechanic friend to do the bleed and here is the trick. Where I was turning the wheel with the hydraulic fluid flowing in like I was driving the boat, he turned the wheel about a quarter rotation per 30 seconds and never let the fluid go lower than the line in the funnel. Slow, slow slow until no bubbles and only fluid exits at the engine side of the hydraulic line. Lock it down and repeat the other way. Same slow slow slow. We then waited overnight and did it again to maybe only one bubble each direction. Locked everything down and I swear, my steering is easier, firmer and locks at max better than my cousins brand new Raider with factory hydraulics installed. I now drive my boat with one hand instead of two and easy instead of hard. Boat actually handles better and makes grabbing my crab pot buoys a walk in the park! Very very happy.

Straight forward installation but bleeding takes time.
Installation was fairly easy if you follow the instructions and/or watch online videos. Their bleeding system needs some work. I used my own method from the internet to bleed with a completely closed system and it worked a lot better. Have used it on the water and it works perfectly. I am pleased with my purchase of this product.
