Really IS best bread in the world!
All we expected it to be, and then some. First off, it came in ONE day! So, sat. Breakfast was fabulous! This is a dark, dense bread that if ine is in a pinch financially, or one is simply a bit lazy, a cup of coffee, some Irish butter, and this bread is all one needs to have not only a DELICIOUS breakfast, but indeed, a satisfying and healthy one as well! The two loaves are very large, the weight is the same as that of a ten lb potato bag at the store. The bread keeps well though...there are only two of us, so i cut each loaf in half lengthwise, then crosswise, to make four smaller loaves, and got them right in the freezer. The flavor is outrageous! Hearty, rich, deep, faintly sweet, pairs well with literally everything...we are having it again today at dinner with home made borscht. Please try this bread. Unless you ARE Latvian, or know Latvians, you surely have never tasted anything like it, but ince you do, it is very likely you will never call anything else "bread" again!

Tough bread
This is the densest bread ever. Very special, but not for us. Froze one loaf and will try to give away. Both hard to cut and hard to chew. A most unusual product which I am sure is very successful with the right customer. We were buying the Nordic Food Hall danish rye, but with Covid that is no longer available. Was looking for a substitute.

We shared this Latvian Baltic Rye with Latvian Natives
We were able to cut portions, wrap & save and share this Latvian Rye bread. Our native Latvian relatives "loved" its taste, density & texture!

Hearty and healthy!
Being of Latvian decent I grew up eating this rather unique bread. It's not everyone's cup of tea but toasted with peanut butter and a cup of coffee, in my opinion, it can't be beat. It's very hard to cut (you really need a serrated knife). It is very hearty and filling. A staple all over western Europe.

Snail mail-disaster
I was very excited when I saw this bread! My grandmother made this bread, fromOdessa.Well, this was at the post office, for days!!It was delivered in a USPS envelope, stuffed in there. It was stale, and it weighed more than 5 lbs, as it was too old.I paid over $60.00 for this, and the seller could have shipped this by UPS, but chose the USPS.I always buy food products, and they arrive with dry ice if needed, or packaged beautifully. But, this was a $60.00+ disaster.Don’t buy this!!!

Impossible to slice
Bread weighed a ton and is like a rock that is impossible to slice. Useless to us. Can't cut through this rock.

Absolutely Wonderful!
Best bread I ever ate, except for the southern homemade cornbread of my youth. Very consistent in texture and flavor. I have ordered ir several times and never been disappointed. If you ever need to fast on bread and water, this is the bread. Many thanks to the baker, and to Black Rooster.

Baaaddd.
Ungodly stale. Used Cooks top rated bread knife. Wanted to cut it into parts to freeze. Not doable. It was like flushing 30+ dollars down the toilet. You can see serration marks on loaf.Bece
