It's Halloween, and that means...skeleton displays!This year, I'm doing skeleton gambling and, while one skeleton blackjack player is perfectly normal (other than, you know, being a skeleton), the other is a downright sneaky rat...or rats.Three skeleton rats standing on each other's shoulders to be able to play. Mysteriously cloaked in a trench coat costume that, alas, did not come with a hat.Ta da! In comes this excellent hat and we have our disguise perfectly made!What I like about this hat is that it is firm and soundly made. It has already weathered several thunderstorms and retains its great shape and feel. Impressive!Now, sure, it's too big for a skeleton rat and that offers you no information of fit or feel for, let's say, a fully alive human, but the hat itself is top notch looking, so consider that when deciding to order.

I bought this hat as part of a costume and for what I paid I wasn’t expecting much. However the hat is rather nice and the fit is perfect. I don’t wear the biggest hat size so keep that in mind. If you’re closer to a size 8” this hat will sit too high and won’t give you that gangster look. It came delivered in a sturdy box and arrived damage free. I highly recommend this hat for a gangster costume, especially at the current price. I guess it could be worn for other occasions too. But for me it’s not something I would wear on a regular basis.

Ok. I really don't pay much attention to those 'negative' reviews that some purchasers leave due to their impression of what a 'costume' hat should be like. I bought this item because of the good reviews about it's sturdiness. And sure enough, that's exactly what this little baby is. First, the packaging. Attention was given by Kangaroo by double bagging the hat. Nice. Now. I kind of like a more flatter lay to the brim. Yup. Out with my trusty Proctor Silex and squished it flat while set on full tilt steam. (on synthetic of course). Next, I just had to peel off that plastic/vinyl edge trim and re stitched it. That's what can make a good 'costume' hat look utterly corny. I replaced the stock ribbon with a 1 1/2" inch one and added that to the inside too. (more classy). The final results? Check out the photo's for yourself. Now your probably thinking. Why sooo much work for a 'Costume' hat?. Well, for starters, I live in the beautiful city of Seattle. In the North West. And it rains. A genuine felt fedora would NOT withstand a full day outside in rain without loosing some of it's form. On the other hand, this little number, however it's made in the 'Middle Kingdom' (China), is absolutely indestructible and totally waterproof. The small touches that I added are just my own hobby craft madness that I like to do. If you want a nice 'White' Fedora that's built like a tank, then get this item. I hope this review will help if your undecided about the 'Costume' issue.

I ordered it for my 10 year old's Blues Brothers Costume but will be returning it because it's a bit large and flops down on him and my husband and me as well. Oddly enough his partner Blues Brother got the same hat and it fits him and his parents... they said they have big heads! The quality would have been fine for Halloween and fits the price, but if you are looking for a better hat, this isn't it... it's stiff and costumish not for regular wear. I also don't really like how it's kind-of pointed -- reminids me more of a Ranger Rick style than a true Fedora. I returned it and ordered "HDE Kid's Short Brim Trilby Fedora Hat (Black)" instead. The size is snug but fits my 10 year old and I like the style better.

I've never been one to believe in fairy tales; never been one to believe that the impossible is possible...well...that all changed after I purchased this black fedora gangster hat. For one night, this past October 31st to be exact, I was rubbing elbows with the likes of Capone and other notorious gangsters and was immediately accepted into their inner circle for one reason and one reason only...my black fedora.To say I am satisfied with my purchase would be an understatement...I am thrilled. Time travel is a fickle beast and while many believe it can be achieved in a Delorean, I have come to find out all you need is a black fedora gangster hat sold be Kangaroo to be transported back to the roaring 20's. Thanks Kangaroo for achieving this level of science just with a simple black fedora gangster hat.

I know the old story is you get what you pay for, and this thing is dirt cheap. I just want a "white" Fedora to add to my collection; and they are rarer than hen's teeth. So I thought I'd buy this. First off... I don't know where they get that it's felt, unless it's felt covered cardboard. the thing creases like a piece of cardboard when you try to bend the brim in any way shape or form. It's made cheap and it looks cheap. It's okay if you want a white fedora for a school play or something of that nature; but to wear this in any manner of actual "style"... and you'll be a laughing stock.

This is the perfect hat for dressing an eight-year-old as Bruno Mars. In case that’s something you need to do.

Great quality. Great price. It came in a giant box fully protected - unlike other hats which which come folded. Very sturdy, soft felt feel. Pure white. I thought it would be large for a child but it fits my 11 yr old perfectly.
