This will make 6 I've installed
I'm a mechanical engineer...but not a controls expert. We're getting ready to move into our third house in 7 years thanks to my job...and each of them has had a different HVAC system...one had two zones... hydronic with ducted A/C and a heat pump, the one we are moving out of has three different zones... all heat pumps, and the latest one is a 1956 straitght gas furnace with a cooling coil. I have installed this same thermostat in all of them (or will have, once I install the one I just bought). I am sold on this particular model because if you label the wires on the old thermostat that you are replacing and follow the instructions, you will be just fine. It will take virtually any style heating and cooling system. Those that have had problems, I can't speak for, but the initial set up walks you thru all your choices and then verifies that your system is operational. I agree that in this plug and play world, the instruction could be better than "0, 1, 2..." for choices, but it is straight forward. I suggest leaving all of the 4 sets per day because that let's you override the schedule when you come home early or are home sick and it will get back on track at the next scheduled change. I also like this thermostat because it has a "HOLD" button that allows you to stay on a temperature when you are on vacation or need to override the schedule for several days. It does "click" when it initiates the system "on/off", but I like to know that, so it doesn't bother me. I could have gone with the 6110 Focus Pro since my latest house only has a one heat and one cool system, but I liked the familiarity of using the same t-stat that I am comfortable with and for only $10 difference, it wasn't too much of a stretch.

Works great once configured correctly. Instructions suck.
OK so replaced a non-programmable with this one. Why do people have fancy heat pumps & HVAC systems and skimp on the controller? Once you read my review, you'll understand why some keep it simple - BUT now its set up, I'd not go back.Installation: I replaced a 5000 with the 6000. Pretty much identical, apart from being programmable. Wired it up, switched on, cold came out when it should be hot, what? The instructions they ship with the unit didnt help much, the factory default setting was wrong for my heat pump, so like everyone I went on the internet. 20 minutes later, reconfigured and all fixed.Programming: Standard Mon - Fri, plus weekend setting. Easy to do.Usage: Worked great but why am I waking up in the middle of the night in winter? "Adaptive Intelligent Recovery (AIR)", because its trying to save you money, it switches on 2 or 3 hours earlier and gradually warms the house up. So set it for 7am, and at 4am it fires up the heat pump - which wakes me up. Personally I am fine with a bit more cost and a good nights sleep. Turned off AIR, sleep great.

2nd one works great!
I purchased this based on a heating and cooling company’s recommendation. The 1st one I got appeared used with a scratch on the display and some of the things wrinkled up, instructions, etc.. I wired the unit up and had planned to keep it even with the scratch but when I turned on the power I got an error that displayed and I wasn’t able to go any further. After talking with the Heating and Cooling company that recommended it I returned it for a replacement. This one was new and not opened and when I wired it up it kicked on the AC. After that I programmed the unit and its been working great! One thing I really like is how bright the display is. Very easy to see in the dark!

No Swing Temp or In house temp range settings
Example: I set night temp to 64 and morning to 66. Rather than remain on heat pump, system kicks in resistance Aux heat, . (Expensive heat) until house temp is 65 then goes back to heat pump. You can only set 1 degree swing temp difference to remain in heat pump mode!! It seems to keep the house temp at a range of about 0.5 degree. This causes overcycling of heat pump and waste because the pump takes a while to reach efficiency (about 15-30 minutes) and this may turn it off prior to reaching max efficiency. If temp goes below 15, I just use Emergency heat, then it cycles about every ten minutes - way to much - probably overtaxes the system relays. If you have a two stage heat pump, I feel you should get a thermostat that temp swing and in house ranges are controllable.T

Works Fantastic
Replaced a Trane Baystat thermostat for a heat pump system with this model. It was relatively easy to install by myself (there is lots of advice available online explaining the wiring). The thermostat it replaced was 40 years old and actually had a mercury switch inside. Before the changeover, the temperature in the house always seemed to oscillate between too warm and too cold. This thermostat keeps the inside temperature rock steady. The only slightly negative thing I can say about this thermostat is that there is no way to light up the screen without actually adjusting something. This makes the screen a tad hard to read until you hit any of the buttons. A very, very small criticism of an exceptional product.

total piece of junk right out of the box
got this new thermostat to replace an older one. was initially impressed by the possibilities. hired an AC guy to come out and install the thing. he hooked it up, seemed to work fine and he left. ran ok during the day. by evening, i walked past one of my vents and felt heat. (bear in mind it's 90+ degrees outside so i have the AC on). indeed the thing is blowing heat. long story short, the thing was blowing AC fine, then it would cycle off, 10 seconds later it would cycle on, blowing HEAT... in COLD MODE. so i google up some info about these honeywell thermostats and read that there are quite a few people having problems with them. so i call the AC guy back and he said there are a LOT of "lemons" with these things. nice job honeywell :(

Replaced non-programmable FocusPRO5000 with FocusPRO6000
The FocusPRO6000 Programmable Thermostat was used to replace the existing (builder) installed FocusPRO5000 thermostat after 6 years to facilitate programmed 5-2 Days settings with automated adaptable start of either heating or cooling cycles. After reading up on most available information I realized with the working FPRO5000 thermostat builder calibrated to work with the existing Payne Heat Pump I could basically install the FPRO6000 thermostat over the existing base plate life and program all recorded previous settings after clicking it to the existing base plate & installing batteries. The programming for time and temperature setting was a breeze.

Make sure you reprogram according to heating and cooling system
W You must use backing plate that comes with Thermostat because there es a bump on back of thermostat that might not be on old one . Need a notch cut out of backing plate to accept this projection. You could drill a hole in existing plate. Also you have to program thermostat with whatever type of heating and maybe cooling system.

works great
This thermostat is replacing one we have had for years. This is a great product.
