Pretty unreal...
I spent years in a pitched battle with the racoons that had moved into my attic. Honestly a whole family. Id used every conventional trap and they are just way to smart. The design of this trap is simple sturdy genius. The first night, using some special racoon bait, I caught the first and every night I put it out. I couldnt believe it. I caught seven racoons over the course of two weeks and took them up to the forest and let them all go in the same spot so hopefully they'll sort it out. the release was easy. Just gently roll the cage over, the rings drop, the door falls open and the little bandits run off into the trees. That was it. Months ago. No mas mapaches! I cant say enough good about this trap. Im sure the racoons feel differently...

Do not purchase this trap
Trap is poorly constructed, live animals can demolish them when captured. Used mine one time trapped a raccoon and it destroyed the trap.

EASY to set and WORKS
This trap arrived a day sooner than promised...so about 4 days after I ordered it. Although it is Made in China :(, I am pleased with the sturdiness and construction. Setting it is NOT fiddly (unlike Havahart). The trap pedal actually raises high enough to be useful, and there is a little opening at the back of the cage to put a lure directly there instead of having to shake it into place. One complaint is that the food opening did not come with any sort of latch so I had to wire it. But that is pretty minor, and I'm not going to ding the stars for it. It has so far caught 2 cats in the 4-5 lb weight. I'm actually trying to catch a fox that is eating my chickens, but I'm glad it trips easily enough for small creatures.

More Stars if it had documentation in the box!
Hmmm, received the trap, Model 1114 by Duke, described for larger animals including feral cats. Clearly large enough to do the job. My cage was colored olive drab, which I liked. The cage came without any documentation so you get to figure out setting the trap yourself. The trap comes fully assembled, it's just sort of figuring out how the trap is set and the door shuts when tripped. You can go on YouTube and get the idea, although the videos I watched were poorly made, especially from DUKE. So, I estimate that this trap will give you years of service. Once you master the mechanism, it should be very effective. Its relatively light, although this model may required two people to lift if you have a large racoon or cat in the trap. The trap will fit in the back of a SUV, PU Truck and even a reasonably sized trunk of a car. Remember, transport will required some type of plastic drop sheet for urine/waste. While you can probably feed (watering might be difficult) a critter in the cage, it is really meant to capture and then move to another type of enclosure or release. So, this cage should be checked daily.

FINALLY CAUGHT
I've had a large raccoon living in my attic coming and going for about a year. Purchased a Havahart live cage but it kept stealing the bait and tripping the pad without getting caught. I went on Amazon and found this Dukes X large trap. After reading the overwhelmingly satisfied reviews and especially the actual video of a live capture if was convinced this was it. With the previous trap the raccoon would just laugh at me and thank me for dinner. I got my Dukes trap almost a week earlier than expected. On other reviews there was damage to the cage upon arrival not mine it was in great condition. I set it up in the attic and put some marshmallows in the rear beyond the trip pad. First time out it caught the raccoon BUT it escaped. Want to know how. Apparently if given enough time they can lift one side of the metal rings that hold the door shut and squeeze out that side. He even left me a pile of poop after he escaped. Did i give up? Of course not. I took the cage down sprayed it out put it back in the attic this time with a small bowl of catfood and marshmallows. I also placed a old baby monitor in position so i could monitor any action. The day before New Years Eve the trap did it's job again trapping our unwanted guest. I stacked a couple of boxes in front of the door to prevent the first event from occurring again. Also stacked a heavy spare tire on top so it could turn over the cage. Getting it and the cage down was no picnic but i got in down into the back of my truck and drove about 30 miles outside my city. I tied a string to the top handle pulled the cage upside down to allow gravity to let the door down and out he bolted into the woods. This was a celebration for me and the family as this fellow had been the topic of many conversations and some sleepness nights as the love to eat and party after i go to bed. The Dukes trap definitely did the job however you may need to work on how to keep the rings in place when the door shuts. I don't think this raccoon has a degree or anything but the are very good at figuring things out. Thank you Dukes X large trap you work as advertised and as other reviewers have stated. Definitely a keeper.

Ok trap but..
It arrived promptly, but is somewhat flimsy for an animal such as a raccoon. The welds where the wires connect are not terribly strong. Mine arrived already damaged at the bottom, with some of the wires separated. An animal would be able to enlarge this opening and get out if it had a mind to.I contacted the company, who told me to ship it back. I didn’t want to go to the trouble of repacking it and sending it back, so I fashioned a fix with some stronger wire where it was damaged. With that fix, I think it will be serviceable. The trip mechanism is heavier than I would like, but fiddling with it could help with that.It has a small indentation on the trip arm, so you can block the door open if you catch something undesirable like a skunk. You can open it and the critter will leave on it’s own accord. Personally, I would still use a block of wood to keep the door open under that circumstance, but that is my own preference. The door itself opens fairly easily, and uses a method of 2 rings to open. All in all, serviceable after fixing the damaged wires.
