It's great!
I love this juicer & highly recommend it. When I received it, the box was in horrible shape, but the contents were intact. The juicer came with a DVD to show how to use it, but after viewing it, I felt it was not really very useful. I feel the same about the booklet provided - kind of so, so in application & usefulness. I've had to go to other sources to find out juicing specifics.I use my juicer once every 3 days as I juice enough to last me 2-3 days to keep my juice fresh. It is quiet, easy to use & very easy to clean when done. I set the juicer on the counter next to my sink. At the sink, I prepare my veggies & stack them next to the juicer on a clean towel. Presently, I'm juicing carrots, celery, kale & swiss chard & some apples. Once I'm done filling my juice jars & storing them in the fridge, I'm ready to disassemble the juicer for cleaning. The running water is right there for rinsing the parts as I take them off the machine. The filter does need a little help with the brush, but it doesn't take long. As I rinse, I stack the parts on another towel for draining & drying. You can tip the machine down a little towards the sink & give it a quick, very light & gentle rinse with the sink spray where the last part came off to get rid of the last veggie residue. Once the parts are dry, I re-assemble them on the juicer & it's ready to go for the next time.Even my husband likes to come & help me with this process, from start to finish.

Good bang for the buck
After 14 years of juicing a plastic part on one of the gears broke. Was able to purchase another set of gears for about $100. On the new gear the plastic part was replaced by a solid stainless steel gear part. The old Green Star (life) machine is once again juicing as well as before. I juice cucumber, bell pepper, carrot and dark leafy green. While this is not the ideal for each of these vegetables, it can juice all of these vegetables with a little bit of care. The cleanup and assembly is easy enough. So - 14 years before the first problem and will handle everything I want to juice. Good enough for a 5 star.

I do not like this juicer!!!
I have had my Green Star for about one and a half years. I can say with certainty, Do Not Buy This Juicer. There are too many other juicers on the market that will do a faster, more efficient job. I am certified in the Culinary Arts of Vegan Raw Food. I juice a lot. The Green Star WILL NOT JUICE WHEATGRASS...I don't care what they tell you. Putting the blades in the freezer is not that helpful and using three drops of olive oil is not that helpful...and why should you have to do this? There are too many juicers on the market to put up with this. I grow my own wheatgrass and purchased a hand-crank Lexen Manual Wheatgrass Juicer for $45.00. It is actually easy, efficient and works great on wheatgrass and greens.Cucumbers...let's talk cucumbers and the Green Star. HELP...I can't find the cucumbers for the foam that is backing up in the feed shoot. I have to have celery on-hand to push the cucumber foam down. KALE and CHARD...help...I can't find the juice for the foam that is coming out. I also have to stop about half-way through and clean the mesh screen before continuing. As I mentioned above, THERE ARE TOO MANY BETTER JUICERS ON THE MARKET TO BUY A GREEN STAR and think it will meet all your juicing needs!I suggest looking at Omega, Breville or Champion. Personally, I am still checking each of these out and asking a lot of questions.

A little disappointed
I researched juicers for two days before plunking down the $499 that I saved up for two years. Do not get me wrong this is a very nice juicer but if you plan on juicing a huge amount of things it takes FOREVER. I spent two hours one Sunday trying to juice some greens and other veggies I got at the farmers market. I do understand that it is better to juice slower to not destroy the nutrients but the feeder tube on this is very small and I did end up having to take it apart a couple of times because it got clogged, now that might have been something done wrong on my part. Also there is the pulp extractor pressure thing and I was really confused on how to have that set so again it just might be me not working it right. I tried again another day and found if I didn't overload the feeder it seemed to not clog up as much. I don't regret buying it but it is now sitting on the floor of my pantry because I work full time and found it too time consuming for my needs. I had a Jack LaLaine juicer previously and it was horrible for juicing greens, this machine does work very well if you want to juice leafy greens. I can't honestly say if I would highly recommend this juicer or not, and those gear things are weird as you always have to be extra careful how they are placed in the machine or you can ruin them and they cost around $200 to replace. Buy this machine if you are extra intelligent with putting things together and handling parts, that is my recommendation.

Very well made juicer!
I bought this juicer about 10 years ago and although it unfortunately sat in the attic for many of those years it has seen quite a lot of use and performed great! I have since revived my love of the juicer and can't believe I let it sit for so long in the attic. I have tried wheatgrass, and a variety of fruit and veggie juices and they've all come out great, even my husband loves them!It is a bit of a chore to clean the screens, but as another reviewer said, it's well worth it! It's definitely a heavy and large piece of equipment so be prepared to either have a place on your counter to house it, or an easy place to store it that wont make you reach too high to get it.This thing is made to last so prepare for years of happy juicing!

Great machine
I purchased an earlier version of this juice extractor 10 years ago. It still works good as new. A great and well made product!
