High quality and value for entry level and casual play
Quick version;Great value and quality. Bought one for myself, and once I played it, I bought another one to gift my son.Long Version;I have been a musician for about 20 years now. Bass, guitar and drums. Performed local gigs, bar scene cover bands and opening for national acts.Wanted a ukulele because they're just fun to play. This ukulele blew me away.Great quality for price. Shopping my local guitar shops i've tried a variety of ukuleles in various price ranges. This one is not the top of the line, but it is comparable to higher priced instruments.Opening the box it is shipped very secure in padded boxes. The gig bag is mid level quality. The padding is not as thick as my pro gig bags I use to take my expensive guitars to shows, but ukeleles are tiny and light so I guess it is plenty. The ukulele itself is beautiful. The wood is cut well and the wood grain looks nice. One of the tuning keys had left over plastic from the mold but was quickly fixed with a quick polishing. No plastic feel that you get with cheap instruments. It is light, but has a certain weight to it that feels like quality. It plays beautifully. No buzzing from fretboard. Strings could use an upgrade, but the supplied strings play well enough, and a casual listener wouldn't tell the difference.I purchased the acoustic/electric model; the set came with a tuner, but the embedded tuner works perfectly. The microphone did not seem to pick up the higher notes as well as lower tones; had to play with the amp settings to get a better sound. All in all, the wood body is great. It was constructed as cheaply as possible while still retaining the quality.I had fun playing it so I bought another acoustic only for my 5 year old.Highly recommend for entry level and casual playing.

Wow!!! Just....WOW
OK, Im going to be honest here. I did NOT expect this uke and all the accessories it came with to be this awesome. I am literally blown away. I figured I would give sawtooth ukes a try (never even heard of sawtooth uke brand), and if I didn't like it I still scored a tuner, case and stand. For 55 bucks, this is a steal. I did buy the tenor (these are what I most commonly play- love the sound tenors produce and fits me perfect)Ill share a little history about myself- I was born and raised on the big island and most of my family are musicians. I started playing the uke in 3rd grade, I enjoy singing and I have danced hula for 25+ years. So, I have a great ear for tune. This uke is awesome. I was iffy that for such a cheap price, I would be getting a cheap product. That is not the case. Its an all around beautiful mahagony wood, Aquila strings (top notch kind of stuff) and the fingerboard feels really nice. My fingers are use to playing for long periods of time but the prep on these strings can make me go all day. Easy to play for even the newbies. This uke did come out of tune, but that is normal with new ukes, unless you buy from a brick and mortar store and they tune it for you. Besides, it comes with a tuner. So again, easy fix. For me, this uke held its tune wonderfully after its first tune up. One thing I was worried about was the play and sound once I got it tuned. But all that went away after my first strum. Its does not rattle or buzz like junk ukes, and the sound is sharp, bright, warm and loud. Love it. My mom and I jam all the time, and recently I mishandled my main uke and cracked it. So I needed something else. And this seriously changes the game. I think she is going to want to trade her koa uke for this one (but she can't have it, Lol). The stand it came with is great, hold the uke nicely, the tuner works fine (its smaller than I expected, but it does the job), the case was more than I thought. Its got a zipper pocket in the front to hold the stand, an extra pocket for whatever else (picks, strings, tuner, ect...) and the main compartment fits my uke nicely. The case has a carry handle on the side AND arm straps (backpack style) in the back. This is a soft case made with durable material. It is not too tight and not to loose, so my uke won't be sliding around getting itself out of tune... or worst. The chart it comes with is perfect for beginners wanting to learn the basic uke chords. Its got a few beginners songs inside (4-5 easy simple songs I think). All in all, I am NOT one bit disappointed. I LOVE this uke. I highly recommend for even the seasoned player. This is the real deal folks. No lie :)

The defects are real, and falls short of Kala in some regards, but great value
My Kala pineapple ukulele broke in an accident, and I wanted a cheap replacement of similar quality with more frets. This 15-fret version with great reviews appealed to me right away.First of all, sound quality compared to the kala is not quite there, but I got my sawtooth for like 2/3rd the price of the kala, which, like I said, is 12 frets vs this one's 15. Same quality decrease with regards to tuning along the scale; both brands are not in tune even by teh second fret, which is ridiculous, but the Kala stays closer to in tune as you go down the fretboard than the Sawtooth. However, the difference isn't tremendous, and the Sawtooth has some advantages over the Kala as well. While sound quality, in my opinion is a little worse (less rich, and "solid" sounding), construction quality appears to be better in some regards. The back of the Uke is slightly rounded here, and flat in the Kala, which, in theory at least, allows for fuller sound. The Sawtooth is also slightly heavier, and just FEELS sturdier. The fret board, like others have said, actually is sharp, and I actually cut my finger after my first session playing it from repeated strumming near a sharp fret. However, the metal for the frets is soft, and I found some careful filing with a simple metal nail file from CVS fixed the problem. Easy fix if you can spare the 10 minutes. Also, with regards to sound quality, I noticed the fret board looked dry for some reason, and decided to oil it (a controversial practice, I know) and while I was at it, I oiled the rest of the body as well. For whatever reason, the sound is fuller now, and closer in quality to the Kala, though still not quite there. I am already happily using those extra frets, and for $35 bucks, to have such a legitimate instrument, flaws or not, is no small task. Especially with good strings and good build quality. If you do what I did, and attend to the two flaws before giving it as a gift, (even to yourself) I think you will have zero complaints and plenty of thank yous.Enjoy!
