Just like original adapter, cord is just more reinforced. No loss of suction.
Works great.I was worried after reading other reviews here that this adapter wouldn't be as good as the one that came with my Medela Advanced Backpack. But I knew that the Medela pump has warnings all over it saying not to exceed 9V, and that if I ordered from Medela and something went wrong - that they are good at replacing parts. So I took the chance, and ordered two more of these.. even though the price was more expensive than other 12V generic adapters on amazon.Happy to report that it works just like the original. No loss of suction, which is what I was worried about. The cord is thicker and more reinforced than the one that came with my backpack, but I imagine that it's just a newer version that is built to fray less.It has been fantastic having multiple adapters. I pump exclusively for my twins and supplement. I now have a place to plug in my pump in our bedroom, my office, and our living room. Before, I had to rely on the battery pack if people came over and I needed to go hide to pump, and when the batteries ran low I'd lose suction.. it was a huge pain. And in the future, if these adapters die.. I know Medela will replace them since it has their brand. I also know I am not damaging the motor with a higher-than-intended voltage. The peace of mind was worth the higher price.

Legit
This was a replacement for my original (2006 purchased) PISA backpack. I moved overseas and blew the old one and had survived the last few months of pumping for kid 3 on the battery pank and my Harmony manual. Now that kid 4 is here and I go back to work next week, this was needed.I delayed buying because I kept reading comments about how people would buy an adapter and what they got was generic. This power adapter is legit!!!Pros: it is the real deal. The cord is positively sturdier than my original. It's thicker and not inclined to kink like the original.Cons: I waited a year since my adapter blew. I suppose that's on me, not the adapter. If you need a replacement or extra and want the Medela quality you seek, choose this one!

Plenty of power
My sister gave me her Medela breast pump after 3 kids. I am now using it on my third kid, and it’s still kicking! However, the cord finally pooped out. I tried one of the cheaper versions and it didn’t have enough power. So I went for this one though it was 4x as expensive. It gives my pump more power than it did with the original cord. In fact, I’m worried it will overwhelm my pump (since it was manufactured before the date of pumps I should be using with this cord). I’m so happy with it and pray my pump keeps going-I love this power!

Powerful, but has a chemical odor
This is an authentic Medela replacement part. I'd purchased a plug from a different company to keep at work, which was about $7 less expensive and boasted being significantly lighter. During my very first pump using that other plug, I was frustrated by the lack of power it provided and by the time my pumping session was over, I'd printed out the return label from Amazon and ordered this one.Just... there's an odor to it. To the plug! It's quite strong. I recognize it from someplace, but I'm a chemist and I find the strangest smells to be familiar. I can't place what it is, but it smells similar to what old school band aids used to smell like back in the day. I don't know what would cause the odor in the manufacturing process, but it really hits you hard when you first open the package. Several hours later of airing out, and I'm still wondering what it is. I took off one star for the horrible chemical smell. My guess is that it has something to do with the plastic used in the cord - the cord seems much more heavy duty than the one that came with my PISA.

Works just like the original cable.
I bought this replacement cord for my pump after my original cord developed a short near the end. The short developed after 7 months of daily repeated usage. This cable is identical to my original cable. I looked at other off-brand replacement cables. Off brand reviews often said that they didn't have as much power as their original cord. I chose this one because I knew I needed that extra power. I usually have to turn my pump almost all the way up by the end of my pumping session. So knew I would need all the power I could get. Highly recommend this cable.

" She happily obliged. Husbands
My wife pumps at work and at home and didn't want to lug around this heavy power adaptor so I said, "Hey wife, here's another power adapter. I'll buy this for you so you can keep one at work and leave the one at home." She happily obliged. Husbands, take note: It's nice things like this that you do every so often to rack up some points. So far no complaints from the wife, except that pumping can be hard. I sympathize with her and all you ladies out there. Hang in there. You're doing a great thing for your baby so that they can have nutritious breast milk that is very good for them. Do it for at least 6 months and up to 12 months if you can!

Didn't specify voltage
Since the product number was the same and the product information didn't specify voltage just model types (I have the pump in style), I was under the impression that it would be the same as my original adapter that came with the machine. When I got it it turned out to be a 9 volt as opposed to the original 12 volt. It still works with the product but as another poster said it doesn't seem to be quite as strong. The machine sounds higher pitched now too.

Makes my pump suck (in a good way)
My original power supply stopped working. I was using another 9v supply until I could get a replacement that wasn't great. I was so happy once this one arrived! When I opened the package, the first thing I said was, "Wow! Beefy!" The cords and trips are much more rugged than the original. The supply, itself, was sized appropriately for the current rating needed for the pump. It is way better than the one I used temporarily and even better than the one that came with the pump originally!
