The Ultimate Survival Tool?
Wow, was my first impression. What great fit and finish, attention to detail, high polish hand-finished blade. The edge is so devoid of burrs that it almost felt not sharpened. Boy, was i wrong. While unsheathed and on my work bench, i turned to my right to grab something and when i turned back i ever so lightly bumped into the sharpened edge... went through my finger like hot butter, nearly to the bone. Luckily, it was the side of my index finger, where i have has two other scars from close blade encounters of the third kind. I dressed the small wound and was eerily enjoying it the entire time! Wow, what workmanship and quality control! Now for my one dig on TOPS, which i am sure many of you can already guess; The Sheath is PATHETIC, for such a top shelf knife. Flimsy ballistic nylon with two button velcro straps, not kydex type lock when fully sheathed and the buttons are near impossible to get closed first shot. You do not want this to slide out and hit your leg or foot, as you won’t have whatever part it lands on connected to your body any longer. Come on TOPS! At least offer a Kydex upgrade for your beautiful works of art.**NOTE** I did recently order a Tie Tactical Custom Carbon Fiber Kydex sheath with MOLLE PUP attachment options. I am currently awaiting its arrival. With all my options it was $163+ Tax and Shipping. Yeah, its alot, but everyone raves and this beast of a survival tool deserves it. Will attach right onto a battle belt, carrier vest or MOLLE Go-Bag and the PUP offers any-direction mounting capability. In conclusion, this “knife”, really is the ultimate tool. Its a knife, a chopping machete, an knotching saw, which works beautifully i might add with knotches being completed in 3-4 strokes, pummel striking, carving, batoning, combat beast of a tool. 4.9/5 Stars, due to the sheath. But, its that good that it makes up for the crappy sheath. Don’t wait, buy it NOW. (Also a zombie slasher).

the greatest knife ever created
Hands down, the greatest knife ever created. This thing is straight up beast mode on steroids! It smashes, chops, stabs, slices and whatever else you can think of. It performed very well last week in the far reaches of Northern Minnesota. I even killed flys and mosquitoes with it. It’s kind of cheating though because you just have to swing it through the air and you kill a hundred. I mean they are thick. I play with it constantly. My kids are always saying “skullcrusher” enthusiastically. My wife says I haven’t looked at her in 15 years the way I look at this knife. If your contemplating on purchasing it. Just bye it! It is great. 10 frickin stars. Oh. I almost forgot. The sheath. Honestly, for being a nylon sheath it’s made pretty well. I take care of my things very well and I can tell it won’t stand up to very much abuse. A nice sheath should be purchased at some point. I like leather myself. All in all I can’t say enough about this knife.UPDATE. I have now owned this blade for almost 5 years. I have chopped down trees, split 4 foot 2x4 s right down the middle with one swing, cleaned dear, rabbits and fish, notched oak logs, thrown this thing at trees, dug a hole, the list goes on and on. I have beat the brakes off this thing and only had to sharpen it 4 times so far. It may need to be sharpened again. I took a little bit of the finish off the sides, that’s it. It’s indestructible. I certainly can’t kill it. I spent a whole summer trying a couple of years back. This truly is one of the best knives ever made. Take it from someone that has well over a hundred knives in their collection. A dozen of those are Tops knives. Hurry up and buy!

Love this Knife!
That's not a knife....this is a KNIFE! Used the knife for cutting Bermuda grass on the side of the house and for other various uses. This is a large, solid knife, full tang blade, excellent for slicing up watermelon and pineapple (heck, I don't even care if I eat it...just enjoy slicing it up with this blade). Also excellent as a large survival knife (may be a little too heavy to carry over long distances, but it'll handle mid-size branches with no trouble. Given the design of the blade, you can also use it for smaller detailed work such as feathering when building a fire. This would have been Arnold's blade in "Commando" back in the day, if this knife was around back then. If you're a man, you NEED this knife. If you're a woman, heck, you need it too. ;0)

Definitely X-treme!
First of all, this is a big, heavy knife. It is about the size and weight of and average Khukuri knife. Point of balance is about an inch forward of the handguard. The spine is thick and the saw back is functional. The grip is comfortable and secure. As with all TOPS knives in my experience, quality is outstanding. This knife is a pretty amazing chopper and could conceivably replace the hatchet on an outing. It also works well as a draw knife by gripping the handle and the back of the thick part of the blade and using the thin part as the drawing edge to sharpen stakes and poles. The SXB may be a little too big to wear on a belt, but the sheath has standard MOLLE attachments and could easily be attached to the side of pack or any MOLLE gear. I hope to give a follow up review after additional use in the field. If there is anything I could change, it would be a diagonal retention strap on the sheath. The dual perpendicular straps on the sheath are very secure, but they brush up against the edge of the blade as it is drawn. and sooner or later they will start to fray. A diagonal strap would only brush against the back of the blade. Also, this knife is just screaming for a Kydex sheath. Hopefully TOPS will make one for it.
