Cool chlorinator!
I bought this chlorinator because my old one refused to stop getting stuck in the skimmer. Thus far, this one has stayed out of the skimmer, however, it tends to get stuck on my ladder (which my old one also did occasionally) I'm completely fine with this, as it doesn't hinder the efficiency of the skimmer in any way. The color in the photo is kind of inaccurate. It is charcoal in color, with no bluish tint. Also, when viewed head on, the fin itself looks narrower than the photo might lead you to believe, though it is a bit thick. It does sorta look like a wizard hat in the photo. It looks much more convincing floating around the pool. Much more shark fin like. Don't expect the fin, while drifting around your pool, to always be oriented in the correct direction. Once you see it in your pool, you won't care because it looks so cool. When it passes through the return flow, it reacts amusingly. The threads are deep and the canister secures nicely. I used a 7/32 drill bit for the holes in the canister, but you could probably use scissors. Just use caution as the plastic is somewhat soft. The instructions say to drill out the holes in the bottom TWO rows. My advice is DO NOT DO THIS INITIALLY. Just drill the bottom row and try it for a couple days and check your levels. Add more holes if necessary. Remember, you can always add more holes or add additional pucks.I'm very happy with this item. In fact, I just ordered a backup in the event the manufacturer ever discontinues it. If there was anything I could change, I'd make the body area directly under the fin a bit more flat. I'm only using 2 pucks in mine, though. The added weight of additional pucks may cause the fin to sit a bit lower in the water, lessening the rounded look.I can't believe I wrote this lengthly a review on a pool chlorinator, but IMO, it's the coolest one I've come across.

We bought this because it was not your ordinary lame duck with sunglasses floater
We have a 27,500 gallon pool with attached spa. Which is a larger than average pool. We bought this because it was not your ordinary lame duck with sunglasses floater. Not only is it the coolest looking chlorine floater you will find, it is the best chlorine dispenser I have found in my 19 years of pool ownership. Through the unusually hot summer here in Southern California, (Don’t let those climate change detractors fool you), This dispensed enough chlorine so that I didn’t have to add any myself. With all the other floaters, I have to manually add chlorine when it gets really hot. The top and bottom are made of thick and sturdy plastic. It hasn’t faded this one summer, so we’ll see next year. Those reviewers who claim it won’t float upright didn’t read the other reviews instructing them to place a few small rocks in the bottom. I, however haven’t had that problem because I keep at least four 3” tabs in it at all times. But It will hold 5 or 6. I have never filled it to the top. And don’t “poke” holes in it with a knife like an idiot. Use a drill that is the approximate size of the existing starter divots. There are instructions on the side explaining exactly how many holes and where to drill them. (top and bottom rows). And it’s a conversation piece. Everyone comments on it, even the furniture delivery guys. I am purchasing a 2nd for back up because it works and when it eventually wears out, I will never find it again.

Love this dispenser
I love this dispenser as it's very cool. But I end up buying several a year because they tend to become brittle and break.

Cute but beware of other reviews comparing it to something else.....
It is Very Cute and my family and kids love it. I did take the hints from other reviewers who had trouble with it tipping over and we kept it stocked with chlorine to give it weight to stay upright. BUT there is a review that mentions something about it looking like a hat and to not read them because that's all you'll see when you look at it and they were 100% right about that! To everyone but me it looks like a shark fin but to me it will always look like something else because of those reviews so don't read them if you can help yourself! Another tip if you have dogs, it looks like a toy and if they are anything like mine they will get it and chew on it. It took less than a week for our dog to get it and chew the tip of the fin off. It doesn't look bad from far away but I don't want water getting into it and will eventually order another one for next year when we open the pool. And the holes for the chlorine are NOT pre-drilled. You will have to do that and I recommend using an actual drill so that the holes are done correctly. There is a piece of paper inside when it's delivered that explains how to drill the holes and how many to drill out.

This is the worst. The fin in the water thing is cute
Over the years I have bought hundreds of things through Amazon. This is the worst. The fin in the water thing is cute...Jaws and all that, but the fin does not easily screw into the canister. When I was successful at getting it screwed in, it took me 10 or fifteen minutes to make that happen. That does not sound like a lot of time, but try imagining trying to screw a lid on a jar for 10 minutes. Frustrated does not begin to describe it. I gave up.When it comes to you, the canister has no outlets for the chlorine. You have to drill holes in the canister. There are no directions about flow rate...you just guess, I guess. I got tired of guessing.I recently replaced it with a top loading floating dispenser and it works marvelously. The thing is adjustable as to the among of flow.I chose form over function and I wholeheartedly regret it.Don't make the same mistake.

Did not come with instructions
Ordered 2 of these and neither came with instructions. I have no idea how many holes to drill as other reviewers suggested. With the money I spent on these, it should have included instructions. I feel like it should have been designed with a few basic holes to start. Will be returning one. The plastic is very cheap. Will update how it holds up through this season.

The media could not be loaded. This is our 3rd Shark Chlorine Dispenser! They are the best! Fun looking! Long lasting! Easy to use! You just have to puncture some holes on it! Worths the money and also a cute gift to any pool owners... Time to change the flamingo or pineapple! 😃
