Vintage Santa Wooden Advent Calendar with Doors from Primitives by Kathy

It is absolutely perfect. Every detail is thoughtfully crafted. It arrived in perfect condition, it was very well packaged. I read a couple of reviews complaining about the tiny bells getting in the way of opening the door, but the bells are very easily moveable so this issue is very easily solved. The bells are attached via a tiny wire that holds each little bell in a particular position. Gently moving the bell on the wire will permanently change its position in case it is getting in the way of opening any of the doors. I only had this issue with 2 out of 24 bells and it was literally fixed in under 15 seconds. I personally love the bells as I feel it gives the calendar more of a festive feel. All of the doors opened beautifully and all of the doors stayed shut after my husband hung the calendar up on our wall. However, a couple of reviews mentioned issues with a door or two swinging open, I think an easy fix for this is to mount thin double-sided wall tape squares to each bottom corner of the calendar; this will create more of an even line from the top to the bottom, and the doors will be less likely to swing open. My doors do not swing open even with normal mounting without the tape squares, but I might do this just to be on the safe side. Mounting it was fast and easy. This is gorgeous and it is one of the nicest things that I have ever gotten for myself for Christmas. I'm an adult so I don't think that this is just for kids, although it would be great for kids too. December is a tough month for me because I lost close family that I used to spend Christmas with, and this was a gentle and sweet way to get a bit back int the spirit of Christmas again. I am so grateful that this product is available for purchase, I absolutely love it, and it will really brighten up my December.

I've been wanting this item for years but it was not in my budget until this year when the price was the lowest I've seen it. It's not the ultra fancy, lighted, Victorian house advent calendar like the one used in the movie "Christmas Vacation," but it's a close facsimile with the same Victorian theme and antique look. It's all wood, made very well, and looks simply beautiful displayed anywhere. I placed mine inside the china closet so it would be protected, yet displayed prominently through the glass doors. I also ordered little chocolate, foil wrapped gift boxes to place inside the doors. My daughter is excited to begin opening each door on the appropriate day, counting down to Christmas.

Very nice, attractive advent calendar. Doesn't seem cheaply constructed at all. I love how big the treasure boxes are - plenty of space for my 11-yr old's hand on a treat bigger than a hershey kiss! The only thing I wasn't impressed with is the little "jingle bell pulls" on the doors. The wires they are attached with are VERY flimsy and bend/kink VERY easily, I can see them being pulled off accidentally as they don't seem like they are in there super securely. However, even if they all fall off, there is still a little stem to pull for easy opening so all will not be lost if that happens. Overall, I am impressed.

The advent calendar is nice. The wood is light and the door hinges and pieces glued on seem to be a bit delicate, however they are all intact. The details are lovely and the tiny bells are a nice touch. I love all the pictures of Santa and this was one of the more lively colored advent calendars that I considered. I had no issues with any pieces falling off, even after I showed it to my four year old and she opened and closed every door...twice. I really like that the openings to this calendar are large enough to fit a substantial surprise inside. The openings are easily big enough to hold a fun size Snickers or a Reese's peanut butter cup. I'm going to fill them with small figurines from Littlest Pet Shop this year so that my daughter will have a whole set by the time she gets to Christmas.

I love this product. It was what I expected and I am very satisfied. I compared many other advent calendars and felt this one was the very best for me. The compartments are spacious and I love the little doorknobs that open each door. I love the vintage look that gives this product so much lasting charm.

I broke one door just trying to get it out of the package. I figured that was my fault. It's now hanging on my wall, and I can't keep the doors closed. It looks GREAT, but a little more quality would be appreciated. Its going into the trash at the end of the season. Such a shame.

This advent box is the perfect addition to your annual Christmas events. It truly has an "old world" look and is very well made. Someone said it is made in China but it looks as if it were made in Germany, so either way it is a quality piece. My family LOVED it and it will be something we all look forward to each December.
