3M Foam Ear Plugs, Pack of 200

Over the course of twenty years, i have become an expert on coping with overwhelming excruciating noise. i have tried all brands i could find on amazon and local stores. This is the best. i just ordered another two (400 pairs,) after verifying that it was my time tested favorite and still being made with quality control. So many recent brand names have dived in quality, selling only the name for as long as the American customers can be fooled. but these 3m ear plugs are still the same thing (i compared it to a few i had left from ten years ago.) I was so relieved to restore my stash, that i threw out a stuffed box of 200pack "sparkplugs".The 3m foam ear plugs so so much quieter than Sparkplugs. it's not just twice as quiet, its the difference between being able to relax at all. i have tried an assortment of over the ear headsets also, and when its really noisy i can wear them both at the same time. i recommend the 3m plugs, its the best i have found for city machine, tv, and neighbor noise. none of them are comfortable enough to wear for hours, but this is close enough to the best of them in comfort, and far and away the best in pure quiet. The only one i have tried that was more comfortable was Hearos Ultimate Softness Series Ear Plugs, but this is much quieter. so i guess sometimes, the hearos might be a better choice for comfort on extended sessions, but i have come to just wearing and stocking the 3m.

I would strongly advise people not to order these.. I just received the "ear plugs." Instead of the 200 I ordered there was only a tiny plastic package with two ear plugs in it. What is particularly frustrating is that when you read the reviews you see that this has happened many times over the last 3 months to various customers and apparently nothing has been done about it.

Wear them to sleep, wear them to read, wear them on the motorcycle, wear them shooting inside and outside, wear them in the shop or any time I'm working with power tools, wear them whenever I need to concentrate and don't want to be disturbed. They fit great, stay snug, and don't slip out. No discomfort whatsoever.I keep them in my truck, my tool bag, my range bag, my backpack, my nightstand.Have tried a lot of different ear plugs and in my experience these are hands down the best. Your results may vary, but I buy these by the box load.

It's hard to give a foam earplug a 5-star review. Yep - they work great, but I personally prefer the cardboard pack that the EAR Classics (also by 3M) come in instead of the little plastic baggie these come in. I had purchased EAR Classics before, so I dumped these into the cardboard dispenser box. I will say this, they do just as good of a job at sound reduction, and they are A LOT more comfortable than the EAR Classics. I won't get the classics again - I will get these again.

I misread the listing because the questions were talking about how many came in a box, so I clicked carelessly and got 1 pair for $4. There are other listings on Amazon with full boxes or at least 50 pair for a more reasonable price per pair. No fault of the seller - I got what they advertised. I just need to pay closer attention.

I tried something like 20 different kinds of earplugs before settling on these. Why did they win? They work. I'm glad I wasn't fooled by the seemingly low NRR rating of 29dB. I can tell you that in practice, everything seems notably quieter while wearing these than when wearing any of the NRR 31-32dB earplugs I tried. I agree with the other reviewer who said that it seems as though these seal the ear better than the others.They are not the absolute most comfortable plugs I've tried - Hearos Ultimate Softness are the best in that department. These 3M 1100 plugs simply block noise better, though, and are more than sufficiently comfortable even for 8-hour nights. Hearos also cost more than three times as much here on Amazon. Finally, I've found that Hearos can only be used twice before they lose effectiveness; the 3M 1100 plugs can be used at least three and often as many as five times. Still, Hearos are very effective and very comfortable, and are a fine choice if comfort is your #1 priority.All of the Howard Leight, Peltor, and Moldex plugs that I tried were either too high pressure (painful!) or didn't work as well as these or the Hearos. One good alternative I will recommend are EAR TaperFit2 - those are a little bit softer and more comfortable than the 1100s and a little more effective than Hearos, and are reasonably inexpensive, so they're a good compromise.

I wore these ear plugs at night since my husband stores. They work well, but they have a sticky coating on the outside that irritates my ears. After wearing them for a week, I started having continual ear pain during the day as well.
