Good iron.
Very happy with this so far. I have small hands, not very strong wrists and I don't do that much ironing but this is performing very well and is comfortable to use.

Love love love
The media could not be loaded. As a family of 6, I tend to need a new iron every 12 to 18 months and this is by far the best I've had. I don't usually spend more than about £25 on them and getting this on offer for £20 was a complete bargain for the quality. It's sleek, it looks good, not too heavy, the cap where the water goes in feels robust and most importantly it irons very well. It also has a longer than average lead which is one of the main reasons I chose it - why isn't this standard with all irons?! Have tried a few mid range irons recently and none of them compared to this - would buy it again without a doubt.

So good I bought it twice
Irons should be a solved problem. I mean, you're on this page, reading this review, because you're looking for a good iron that doesn't cost some insane amount of money, has a decent cord length, a clear water tank so that you can easily check the water level, and preferably an auto shut-off function because hey, sometimes you forget to plug things out. You're like most people, and you don't have a dedicated 'ironing room', so you want to be able to wrap up the cable neatly when you put the iron away. You'd like good steaming capability that's easily triggered and the iron shouldn't be too heavy, or too light. You'd think every iron would be like this, right? Since it's a solved problem. They're not. Every single iron I've seen reviewed on Amazon, irrespective of price, has some major compromise, and I feel like I've looked at them all. You've seen it yourself in the reviews. Short cables. Funky looking dark designs that mean you can't see the water tank. Poor quality sole plates that don't glide on clothes. Breaking parts. Leaking water. Too expensive. I mean seriously, who wants to pay 100 quid for an iron? This iron right here, the Morphy Richards Gold Crystal Clear Steam Iron, is essentially perfect. It feels good to iron with, it has a huge, easily visible and well sealed water tank, it has a 3 meter cable so you can move around for vertical steaming, and the steam capability is really good. It also has auto-shut off, and the cable wraps neatly around the base when it's not in use. There's even a little clip on the plug end to keep it tidy. The only problem is, it's bound to be discontinued at some point since being good is such an outlier in the ironing world. That's why I bought a second one that lives under the stairs until the one I'm using breaks, or the dog eats the plug, or whatever. If you're looking for the best steam iron on Amazon for under 40 quid, stop looking now. You found it.

Does what it says on the tin
Irons beautifully although it does leak a bit when on the two highest steam settings but I air my clothes after ironing them to let them cool so this didn't bother me - I've never had an iron that didn't leak a bit. The steam function is brilliant - I was really pleased with it. I use ironing water and went through quite a lot for one large load of ironing, but again the steam functioned really well so I didn't mind. It glided well, wasn't heavy at all even when full of water. The cord wraps neatly round the base and has a clip so its easy to keep tidy. Considering the very low price I was really pleased with this purchase, buying an iron is always a bet - you never know what you'll get! The water tank had liquid in it when I opened the package but I assumed that was from being tested at the factory. It also arrived packed only in its branded box and sellotaped closed, so it appeared as if it could have been used but the card plate protector was still on so I'm confident that that wasn't the case. If you're looking for an iron to iron your clothes with whether you're on a budget or not, you can't go wrong with this one.

Waste of money
The media could not be loaded. I bought this iron on the 18th of July. At a decent price. I thought I would give it a try based on the reviews I read. First few use and it was working pretty good. Then it started either getting too hot or when I change the setting it was not hot enough. By the 5th week the wires started protruding as can be seen in the photo. I contact the email on Amazon for support from the 16th of September and I still have not heard from anyone considering this should still be under warranty. The protruding wires are even more visible now and to top it off today I went to use the iron and it was not getting hot it was barely warm. I am very disappointed and felt like I have wasted my money. I would have been better off going to Argos. Save yourself time and money and get a different iron. Further update, now there is a flashing red light and no heat at all coming from the iron. So 3 months and this iron is totally finished.
