Works, and is inexpensive.
Now I can toss the old computers I have been trying to keep running just so I can use a floppy drive on rare occasion.I bought this instead of a USB drive unit because, believe it or not, I still have some 5" floppies which I might need to pull stuff off of some day. Trouble is, I was worried about pulling the USB cable off the PCB when it experienced the inevitable rough handling in storage. Tying the USB cable to the power cable with a nylon tie, and finding the proper cardboard box to store in, has alleviated this worry. The e-commerce pledge: To improve the reliability of online reviews, I will post a review of every item of significance I purchase, and update the review when my opinion changes.

Worked the first time but died the second
Worked the first time but died the second use. It stopped transferring information the second time. It fails to read data off floppy second time. I tried different drives and disks. It is weird as it sees the drive as attached.

Worthless TRASH. E-Waste! Stay away!!!
The wiring of the USB connector to the board is shockingly terrible and flimsy. THREE of the connections broke off during use and had to be resoldered!!! When it was finally connected successfully, all it would do is create this incessant buzzing sound before breaking again. SCAM!

I want to get more of these
I really enjoy having floppy drives in my computer. I so happened to have two USB ports on my motherboard (server board, intended for boot drives) but I'm happily using them to power a pair of 3.5" floppies instead. If I could get some with USB header plugs instead that would be nice, but a USB header to two USB ports adapter would solve that issue no problem. Highly recomment

Initial problem with unit, now resolved
The unit initially did NOT work as advertised! Upon very close inspection under a magnifying lens, I discovered a solder bridge between pins 8 & 9 of the chip. I corrected this with a soldering iron tip, now it functions, both read and write! This particular unit was clearly NOT tested with an actual FD drive before packaging, which is an indicator of a deficient quality control process!
