It is a one piece does it all drive, no adapters or purchase of flash drives, Just carefully insert ribbon and go to itunes to restore. Loads songs very quickly and plays back beautifully. I put one in a 5th gen and one in a 6th gen. Your battery life will be better with no moving parts and hard drives all fail at some point so best choice is this upgrade.

Once you get into the case the circuit board plugs right in and works like a champ. Just remember to backup you iPod using iTunes before you start the replacement process and you can do a restore again using iTunes. I suggest a nice size magnifying glass and very good lighting as the ribbon cable is a bit tricky to get attached. Along with the new battery I got, my 6th gen iPod Classic hasn't worked this good in years. Be sure to get the tools need to properly open the case too.

The storage is 4x the capacity of my old 30gb hard drive. Less power consumption, and way less expensive than buying a refurbished one that someone else rebuilt..It was extremely easy to install. The most difficult part was actually getting the iPod open. I watched YouTube videos to figure that part out. Once the iPod was open, it took 5 minutes to remove the old hard drive and replace it with this one.I recommend getting "side tweezers" to connect the cables. I also recommend replacing the battery while you have everything open.Once everything was reconnected, everything fit back together without a hitch. Literally, 30 seconds.Now my 2006 iPod Classic is not only like new again, it weighs less, and runs longer than before. It wouldn't surprise me if it runs for another 20 years.If you're like me, and really appreciate the old iPods, but are having problems with them, I highly recommend you get this hard drive replacement. They come in different storage capacities, as well.

This is a great way to upgrade your iPod Classic's drive to a solid-state version, and it increased our 160 GB original capacity to 256 GB! The only detractor was the utter lack of instructions on how to install it. Luckily, I was using the iFixit instructions, which did the job.

This product was easier to install than actually opening the ipod it was used in once factory reset to apple’s info it had plenty more space for songs price idk its definitely worth it. Size is nice and small enough for modding the ipod it will go in

What can I say except this drive works perfectly in an iPod Classic 6 that I rebuilt. This drive functions much faster and more efficient with battery than the old spinning drive that came with the iPod. In fact I barely have to charge the iPod now since the new drive it accesses is so efficient. This ended up working as a fantastic solution for this particular rebuild.

This product breathes life into an old iPod. More memory, faster, lighter, better battery life but best installed by a competent technician.
