This is a book of considerable importance as the only English-language ceremonial for the ordinary form of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church, and perhaps the only such ceremonial in any language. In print form, it merits 5 stars. Sadly, the Kindle edition is not of the quality one would expect at this price, being marred by what look like OCR errors: "from time to time, for example while making Ids [read 'his'] annual retreat" (n. 182); "Tie [read 'He'] arranges the vessels" (n. 223). They are not on every page, but are frequent enough to be annoying. Also the scans of the diagrams at the end of the book, though readable, are visibly pixelated.As with good ceremonials of the past (for what is now the extraordinary form), the author documents his affirmations with footnotes. These are also useful for differentiating the author's opinions on what is best from liturgical law. The second edition has been updated, taking into consideration the rubrics of the third typical edition of the Roman Missal (2002) and the instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum (2004).
