Perfect for us!
Wonderful! This step is super light yet sturdy- easy one hand open & close! We use it for our 35lb (and growing fast) puppy to get in & put of our truck which is wonderful because I can not lift her any longer! It was very easy to teach her to use the step which has a carpet top for traction! THANK YOU

Great alternative to a ramp
I'm using this for a 60 pound senior dog to access the back of my SUV. She will use a ramp but the one I have is heavy and awkward and takes up a lot of space. The steps are working very well so far. They are really easy to open and close, takes no time at all to get set up. Much more convenient than a ramp and easier to store in the vehicle. I've only used them to get her into the SUV and not to step out as she's still able to jump down comfortably. I do find that the plastic steps can be a bit slippery. Especially when pushing off the bottom step with the hind feet, the foot sometimes slides back. I would be more concerned about slipping if she ever needs the steps to descend. I plan to apply some kind of slip resistant self adhesive material in the near future. I took off one star for the slipping, but I have no regrets about this purchase. It does seem a little overpriced but I guess the price is due to the functional design more so than the plastic material.

Easy to use!
I pickup my granddogs every day. One, a great dane puppy who is now too big for me to easily lift in to my car and the other, a senior great dane who sometimes struggles to get in my car. These steps work great. Easy to open and close ... quick pull on a lever. Both dogs took to them right away and wait for me to place the steps before getting in my car. Steps don't take up much room, I keep them folded in the car and I love they support up to 200 pounds, because, well, great Danes.

Great idea, wobbly performance. Dog won't use it.
Great idea and i like the idea of it. It folds relatively easily, unfolds sometimes a struggle. I also used it as a divider to keep my dog from getting to the front of the truck while driving. Folded on its side behind the center console. BUT, my dog will not use it. He gets excited when going for a ride, the steps would be a great idea. When I finally was able to get him on the steps, when he lurched forward the steps pushed over and he never came near it again. Maybe for a very small dog but not my 60 pound mountain poodle.

Love this step stool!!
We love this step stool!! We purchased it for our 11 year old lab that is having issues getting into the back of the SUV. While she doesn't use it getting out (still prefers to jump) she is loving using it to get INTO the SUV. We did add some carpeting to the stairs to make it have more traction for her, but other than that- a PERFECT product. I have even used it myself to clean the top of the SUV- very sturdy!!

Exactly what I needed
I have a 70 lb lab mix whose back legs are starting to not work as well as they used to. As he ages, he's having a harder time jumping into the back of my Jeep. While I have a ramp at the end of my bed, I didn't want something quite that large to carry around in the back of my vehicle. This works really well as it fits right behind the seat without taking up a lot of space. A plus for me was that Phoenix used it the first time with very little prompting (going both up and down). I also have two little dogs that did mostly well with it as well. My Chiweenie had to be lifted because she's 6.5 lbs, but my 15 lb terrier did fine. I would highly recommend this for anyone who has aging dogs. I bought this for a trip that I was going on but now I just keep it behind the passenger seat all of the time. Totally worth the money paid. If I was to say anything negative about it, I would mention that the handle seems a little bit wimpy. I did read another review about how theirs broke. Honestly though the rest of it is made so well that even if the handle did fail it would not be that big of an issue for me. I would recommend this to a friend.

Very good for pets but a bit slippery - definitely not a step stool for humans
There are a number of poor reviews on this product because people tried to use them as a step stool and they broke. Once you receive these, you'll realize they are not at all suited for human climbing. They don't lock open and even if they could support the weight of a person, they are dangerous for climbing. That said, they fold and unfold very quickly just by lifting up one of the two handles (one to open, one to fold). They store compactly and it is easy to put them in the car and take it along to help the dog get in and out.I tried other step-type stools, but the dog will not go near any steps that are open between the treads, like most foldable kitchen stools. These are not open and present less of a challenge to the dog.I thought the treads were slippery, even though pebble-grained, so I bought some self-adhesive stair treads and cut them to fit (see picture). I find the adhesive weak and I don't think it will hold for the long run, but a little contact cement will cure that if needed. All in all this is a fine set of collapsable stairs which open merely by picking the unit up with the "open" handle, then close by picking the unit up with the opposing handle. Very clever, and very useful. But don't stand on it if you are human!
