Get-up-and-go got-up-and-went? Get it back
When you have gastric bypass weight reduction surgery, you're told firmly -- again and again -- that because of changes in the makeup of your newly modified digestive system, you'll have to take supplements for the rest of your life. Any decent practitioner will tell you this, and one of the many papers you'll have to sign will ask you to indicate that you understand that you've been told, told, and told. Here's what happens when you think you don't need supplements because time passes and you eat a reasonably healthy diet, and you feel okay, and you hate swallowing big, clunky vitamin pills: You wake up one day feeling ten years older than you are. You realize that it seems harder, for example, to go five or six hours without napping. Your get-up-and-go, as our parents used to say, got-up-and-went. A blood test shows reduced levels of essential nutrients. You're anemic. And your Vitamin D level is at the extreme low end of "Insufficient." It takes months of therapy to bring your levels back to where they should be.This happened to me, and a good general-purpose daily vitamin supplement was part of the plan to bring me back to life in the real world, which leaves little room for napping. I read widely on the subject and settled on these chewable multivitamins made specifically for (but not limited to) adults who've had some sort of bariatric surgery. While any chewable vitamin won't come close to the palate-pleasing pleasure of, say, a fresh, ripe (real) strawberry, these taste OK ... which is more than I can say other chewables. Yes, they're a little chalky, but they're not candy; they're vitamins, and the manufacturer has done a good job putting together a palatable formulation. The consequences of letting nutrient levels go too low can be grim indeed. Given that, and the easy availability (and now, affordability) of this product, we can choose a happier set of consequences.

Good quality
Works for my husband. As chewable, he says flavor is awful.

Excellent Multi Vitamin
I had gastric bypass surgery in December of 2011 and hunt was quickly on for a multi-vitamin that I could stand. I could not tolerate the taste of the FlintStone chewables which had been highly recommended by the program I was in - just a personal-taste preference. These tabs have a very pleasant orange flavor and I have no problem taking my dose of 2 per day, every day, without problem or incident. I gave them 5 stars EVEN THOUGH THEY LACK IRON which is a mineral strongly encouraged for consumption by GB patients. The problem with multi-vitamins that contain iron is that they also contain calcium. Consuming iron and calcium at the same time negates the absorption of the calcium. I choose to consume iron with additional B complex via Geritol or SSS Tonic - and in regards to these tonics the SSS tastes MUCH better than the Geritol. Both get the job done.

Great Product, bitter taste
This has a terrible after taste. However, if eaten with the iron and B12 tablets, they are fine. The iron and B12 are like candy and therefore take away the bitter taste of these multivitamins. These vitamins are worth the after taste, because it's your health. If you had gastric bypass surgery, your goal was to get healthy. BA vitamins will make sure you stay healthy. I had surgery July 2012 and all my vitamins have stayed normal, even my vitamin D, which I was deficient in before surgery, is now normal. I gave it four stars because I'm hoping they improve the taste, but they are still worth it.

Terrible taste and powdery!
I wish I had not ignored the reviews about how bitter these are. They are indeed very bitter and sour with a terrible aftertaste that lingers on and on. I tried taking them in the middle of my meal, but to no avail. And to top it off, the tablets are very powdery and every time I take a tablet the powder gets all over the place. I have tried many chewables, none so bad. NOT WORTH IT. A waste of money and time!

Love these chewables...
This brand was recommended by my post GI surgery endocrinology/nutrition team. I had a total gastrectomy for medical reasons other than weight loss and battling the post surgical nutritional issues has been a challenge. I was thankful to find supplements that worked much better with my post-op changes.I love the Bariatric Advantage chewable berry flavored multivitamins. I enjoy the intensity of the flavor and they aren't sickeningly sweet like so many other vitamins. They are almost as tart as a sweet tart candy. Really make me pucker up in a good way.I also use Bariatric Advantage chewable Ca with Vit D in the cinnamon flavor. They also have wonderfully intense flavor and are not nearly as hard to chew up as other brands. They make the chore of taking large amounts of Ca/Vit D much more pleasant.

They work...I don't eat them for taste.
I had gastric bypass surgery in April 2010 and I've taken these pretty much since Day 1, on recommendation of my doctor.I don't love the taste, I don't hate it...it's just "medicine" to me. What I care about is that each time my blood is checked,my labs are perfect. My hair didn't fall out. My skin looks good. I have adequate C, B, D, E, A...I'm in good shape. I figure these are part of that good report card. While I can certainly TAKE pills, especially this long after my surgery, I figure the chewable part helps with malabsorption that comes hand in hand with gastric bypass surgery. Since my bloodwork is always wonderful, I am sticking with what works. I really don't notice the taste; I really personally don't care. I just want to be healthy.

These are great vitamins...
I had my surgery several years ago but did not keep up with the recommendation to supplement with vitamins like I should have. I have been taking these and have a lot more energy now. Life seems more in focus for me. I like the taste too. I could probably too easily munch on more of these than I am supposed to take at any one time is the only problem because I find the taste appealing. Like the old Sweet Tarts in flavor, if you liked those. The 180 count size helps, as I was going through the smaller size bottles too quickly and had to re-order too frequently for me.Highly recommend!
