Steelcase Series 1 Office Chair, Carpet Casters, Grey

Now that I am working from my home office during COVID-19, I decided it was time to replace my inexpensive home office chair with something more supportive. I started looking at inexpensive chairs from no-name manufacturers (actually from Amazon prime day) but the reviews were wildly inconsistent and each chair had enough bad reviews about failing components that I decided to look for a more reputable manufacturer. Of course that took the price up many factors, but I found that Steelcase (who anyone in business knows) had a lower end chair that still had a lifetime warranty (vs the 1 year warranty of the no-names) so I decided to risk it.The chair is very comfortable. The padding on my tush is much more substantial than my prior cheap chair, and I find more back support from its design and use of an adjustable lumbar far superior. The seat pad is adjustable so you can slide it to your best fit. The arm rests are height adjustable. I love that these chairs colors are highly customizable, although the penalty is time for delivery. I was able to find a combo color I liked in stock so I didn't go for the totally custom option. The chair assembles in a few minutes, amazingly with zero tools or fasteners, all parts just snapping together. The main chair body is polymer (plastic?) but is very solid with metal parts for the moving elements. I am very happy with my purchase but see below for a few minor negatives.Plus- Comfortable, thick and adjustable bottom cushion- Comfortable back design- Adjustable lumbar support- Adjustable (height only on my model) arm rests- Adjustable setting for tilt, locked or medium resistance- Sharp, modern design and a wide range of color optionsCons- My chair was packaged as though it was part of a corporate purchase. Incredibly there was no documentation included. No owners manual, no warranty info, etc. The installation instructions are printed on the box and I found the rest on the internet and printed my own.

At this price range, this chair ticks all the boxes I’d want for a home office chair:1. Solid build quality and warranty2. Great adjustability and comfortable material3. Clean, warm but still modern lookingAll in all, it’s a very good chair that cheers me up and provides me with a comfortable space daily

My only regret is not ordering this sooner. WFH approaching almost a year and previous chair + pillow for back support was no longer cutting it.The color of the chair does look a bit darker than in the photo, which was perfect for me.I do worry a bit about the quality of adjustable armrests... they function great now but I feel like if I put too much weight in them in the right spot it could be a problem. Time will tell I suppose!And assembly was so easy... no tools. Unboxed and assembled in less than 5 min.

I work from home 2-3 days a week. Before I bought this chair, I always feel back pain after 2-3 hours sitting. Our company has steelcase brand chairs. Whenever I work on site sitting in this type of chair, I don’t feel tired. I would say not having Steel Case chair has been reducing my working efficiency by at least 25-30%. Now finally I have this dream chair today. It’s very easy to assemble, the whole assembly process takes less than 5 min. I highly recommend you to watch those 2 short videos on Amazon. By the way, the chair I received is made in USA. The ordering experience from Amazon is great as usual

I seen the Steelcase Series1 office chair in a school that just ordered new Steelcase furniture. It was very very solid, comfortable, and well-built. After ordering the steel case series one chair on Amazon and not directly through Steelcase the chair I received was not of the same quality. The armrests were cheap plastic that broke the first time I took it out of the box and put it together and it just felt lighter. I looked at the shipping weight and the chair that was sent to me was 33 pounds the same exact chair on the steel case website for the series one chair was 77 pounds. I immediately sent the chair back for a refund.

After working on an older basic desk chair and ending each day with back pain I finally splurged on this chair after realizing that I would be a hybrid of in person and remote working for some time.This chair took at most 5 minutes to assemble and has the perfect amount of back support and the seat itself is so comfortable. I love the adjustable arm rests and how customizable the chair is.If you are on the fence, I would recommend taking the plunge - it's worth it!
