Great cargo platform! Installed on 2014 FJ Cruiser.
Five stars with a slight caveat (I'd give 4.5 stars if I could, so I'm rounding up). First, I installed this on a 2014 FJ Cruiser with an aftermarket 2" Curt hitch along with the Surco 1206 fold-up adapter bought at Amazon. Here's the caveat: In order to get the carriage bolts to properly seat in a few holes, it was necessary to bend back the metal grate where it overlapped the squared holes, preventing proper seating. This is nothing but a manufacturing issue, overcome with a flat-head screwdriver pushing the grate up and out of the way from the underneath, then pushing it back down over the bolt head, once tight. Otherwise, build quality is SOLID and is exactly as advertised (although it says 10 minute assembly, give yourself 20-30 in case you run into this issue; but it is easy to do). Finally, I was THRILLED about a few things: (1) When installed with the Surco 1206 (not sure if this is the case without the 1206), the rear door of the FJ cleared the tray and opened all the way! (2) Because the 1206 further extends the carrier from the rear of the vehicle, there's clearance between the FJ and the carrier allowing me to stand/work/load the rear of the FJ! (Even with cargo on the platform) PERFECTION!!! (3) (This is more for the Surco, I guess, but it's the combination for sure) When folded up, only the inside of the frame, which becomes the bottom when folded, JUST touches the spare tire cover - nothing a piece of black foam pipe insulation won't take care of to prevent any marring to the tire cover. I'll update with pictures when I get the chance...

Lawnmower transportation
Bought it to fit my 2" receiver hitch on an Outback so I could transport my lawn mower. Works great for that purpose as it has the width to keep all the wheels inside the edges. Lots of cargo tie down holes in the frame. Took about 10 minutes to put together solo. Would be good for large coolers or luggage if you use a cargo net or plenty of bungees.

Nice carrier. However..
First off, it's very sturdy. Assembly was just as others described, no way this is a 10 minute job. If all the welds were cleaned up and the mesh cut away from under the bolt heads, then maybe. Only one of the six seated ok. For the others, it helped to have a pair of needle nose or other smallish pliers to hold the bolt heads from spinning. Kind of a pain. However, once assembled, it's a very good unit.It seems to me that this is best suited for a car or SUV with a top-hinge rear door. I used it with a Honda Pilot and the door swung up and open even with the carrier loaded about 2' high. I also mounted it on a Jeep Wrangler (with an aftermarket hitch receiver from Curt that mounts under the stock bumper) and the right side hinged door/spare tire cleared the EMPTY carrier by about 1/2". I could see that this would be a real inconvenience. The Jeep is narrow enough that if you load the carrier the full width more than maybe 8" high you'd block the tail lights and would need the accessory light kit. The carrier however, is narrow enough to likely not need accessory lights on the Honda Pilot unless loaded very high.Of note, I had it loaded with about 250-300 lbs. and it made the Pilot's steering feel "loosey-goosey." It's rated for 400 lbs. and I'm sure it'll handle it just fine. But the more it's loaded, probably because it's deeper than most others, it changes the balance and handling of the car it's attached to. Once it was loaded with less than 100 lbs. or so, the car handled just fine.

Almost Perfect
I bought this larger tray (made by Reese) mainly to carry my wife's fat tire electric tricycle and also my regular ebike. It will work great for this with a couple of small mods. The tray is well constructed. The welds look good and the steel tubing is heavy enough to get the job done. Other reviews of this product have complained about 2 things. #1 is the quality of the hardware. While I agree it is not the greatest, it is adequate - 3/8 x 16tpi carriage bolts. The square portion on the bottom side of the bolt heads are sort of square but not the greatest. When tightening the nylock nuts, they easily turn in the square holes in the frame making installation difficult, but not impossible. #2 complaint is the interference of the metal webbing with the landing area of the carriage bolt heads, Apparently Reese has been listening to customer feedback. All 6 areas where the carriage bolt heads contact the frame were clear of metal. No need to bend or cut away anything. Good! In conclusion, If I could give this product 4.9 stars, I would do that mainly due to the hardware. It really could be of a higher quality, but also because they only put 5 nylock nuts in the hardware kit when 6 are needed. Other than that, now that it's assembled, I expect to get many trouble-free years of service from this item.

Works great on my FJ Cruiser!
After reading a review posted (by Justin C on July 6, 2015), I got this for my 2010 FJ Cruiser. I also got the hitch extender. I LOVE IT! I needed something to haul wire grid panels that I use for display of my product at craft shows I vend at. The panels were too long for the inside of the FJ and this way my husband doesn't have to take time off from work to haul them to the show in his truck. We tested it out today with one panel, although I'll use more when I go to shows. I'm super thrilled I'm able to open the back door while the basket is installed (without the panels, of course) and there's plenty of room to move between it and the FJ for loading and unloading.Warning: on one side of the basket, two of the screws wouldn't seat properly as excess wire support for the bottom of the basket wasn't removed in the manufacturing process. They were removed with a dremel. So, take the "10 minute assembly" on the front of the box with a huge grain of salt.
