Fantastic Drill and Battery; Case Could be Improved and The Spirit Level is Embarrassing
This is a second iteration of this 101-pieces kit form Makita for me; I bought the first one back in 2011. Almost identical set of accessories but different box & drill model. The good:- There is now room to store two batteries in the case where both of them can be taken off the drill to avoid long-storage power drain issues (in the old one, you had two attach one of the two batteries to the drill itself).- I chose this case over Makita's MAKPAC as it is more compact and lets you keep all the bits and accessories organised. This is my only cordless power tool.- The bits themselves are just OK for light use. Even if they break you can buy better quality single replacements and still keep them organised. The bad:- The spirit level is a joke. It looks like it came from a play set for children. It is off completely. Just throw it away.- The old case had a translucent clickable plastic barrier to lock all bits in place and prevent them from falling out; this one does not and despite the gaps in the mounting holes appear to be tighter (and a bit difficult to use) they will still come out. It comes with a plastic protective cover meant to be removed after purchase.- The hole saw storage mount and lock are extremely flimsy and do not hold the bits securely; the old case had a metal threaded bolt and locking nut - much better. Also note that the charger is the SD one, not fast-charging, but it is completely silent, which I prefer; with two batteries you will have plenty of time to charge the spare whilst continuing with work. Taking the star off due to the drawbacks mentioned above.
