Q: Are the reviews for older versions that were better or different gloves by the same maker?

I’ve had both and like the newer version better, they keep my fingers warmer with the same, if not better flexibility

Q: Are they warm and waterproof

They are listed as waterproof and breathable. My experience is that they did the job for wet snow that I needed. Not as breathable as I'd like.

No they are not thin enough to be used as liner gloves.
