Very repeatable...
I got this for my coffee roasting and my initial impression is favorable. I tested some green beans four times and the moisture content was 7.3% each time. I wasn't expecting the readings to be that much the same, but am not going to complain. The unit seems well built; and even the carrying case is nice. My only complaint thus far is that the density reading doesn't seem to be working. I have a feeling that it is related to my not completely understanding the button presses, but I have followed the manual and am getting some other reading. I expect that I will stumble on the right process soon and all will be well.Edit 1-21-2025:Well, I have finally seen the light. The reading I am getting is actually correct, and it is in grams per liter. I saw an L on the display which the manual insinuates is an error, but it actually stands for Liter. The 600 to 750 readings I get are exactly what I would expect with a cylinder volume of 1/4 liter and weights of about 165 to 175 grams. The booklet doesn't go into this at all which left me scratching my head, but a little bit of reasoning mixed with some trials has given me my answer. I hope this helps someone else who needs to know density of your grains.

it does not perform as description
I purchased this device specifically to measure the moisture content of in-shell hazelnuts, as indicated in the product description. However, upon receiving the device and testing it, I found that it does not perform as advertised.Despite following the instructions and placing the hazelnuts in the designated compartment, the device fails to take any measurements. This is highly disappointing as I purchased this product with the expectation that it would meet my needs. The product description explicitly states that it measures the moisture of in-shell hazelnuts, but it does not fulfill this claim. As a result, this device is entirely useless for my purposes.Additionally, I incurred shipping costs to have this device delivered internationally, which further adds to my frustration.Given that the product does not function as advertised, I am requesting a full refund. Please advise on the next steps for returning the item and receiving my refund.

Works with minor limitations
It was only tester I could find that would measure moisture content of shelled and unshelled hazelnuts. Only issue is when unshelled the testing cylinder won’t accommodate larger nuts. Need to screen out the larger one before you test them, so the whole tester is full and a proper test is obtained.

Hard to use
This is hard to use. Comes with little to no instructions. Got to use on wild rice and have found it very confusing.

Versatile and functional moisture density tester
I've got a strange fascination with devices that determine measurements. It really doesn't matter what it is. I guess it started when I was a kid and my dad taught me how to use his primitive by today's standards light meter. I've got several refractometers to make sure my coffee is top quality and this is at least tangentially related to that. This device measures 24 different grains, etc. including coffee beans. Knowing the moisture content of coffee beans is most important if you're doing your own roasting. I'd been wanting a coffee specific device to do it but they're upwards of $1500. They're more convenient and also function as a refractomer but this one does the job. It's probably overkill for me to just measure one thing when this can do so much. I was a bit intimidated by this at first but it's easy to set up and easy to use. If you've got some moisture to measure this will do a solid job. Highly recommended!

Quick, accurate testing
The media could not be loaded. This operates just like the commercial MOTMCO moisture tester we own. Readings are nearly identical, this moisture tester, like the commercial tester, can be calibrated. Factory settings can always be defaulted back to.If the items you are wanting to test are on it's list, this tester can give very quick and accurate test. The list is not only printed in the owner's manual, it is also printed on a decal on the underside of the tester. Comes with a very nice storage case. Compared with commercial testers, this one is a bargain.

Good For Tobacco
We roll our own cigarettes and the moisture level of the tobacco is important. We always used a hand held moisture meter that was inexpensive and inconsistent.Although for grains we decided to give this moisture meter a try and we could not be happier. There is no tobacco setting obviously but we set to corn and are working on finding the perfect reading for our needs. This moisture meter was easy to set up and use even though this is the first machine of this type we have used.I think this was a good investment and would buy again.5 STARS
