Swisher LS22E 120V Timber Brute Eco Split Electric Log Splitter, 22 Ton, Black

The LS22E (E is for electric) is a fantastic machine! The machine can be easily switched to either the horizontal or vertical position and it works very fine however you like it. I almost always use it in the vertical position. Sit on a bucket and just spin those big rounds under the splitter. At 22 tons of hydraulic pressure I have never had the machine even hesitate.I have rented gas powered splitters and if there is no wind the carbon monoxide really can get to you. Much quieter and with a 25ft cord you can plug in to most standard outlets...15 or 20 amp...or any standard generator...you're running fast and clean. A lightweight tow; I tow it with my lawn mower easily, but you can tow it with your truck too as it has road tires for speeds up to 45mph.The machine arrives in a crate and it has several heavy pieces that with mine were fastened with big plastic zip ties. These ties were not strong enough or they needed a lot more of them as most were broken letting the heavy parts shift in the crate, but I was lucky with no damage. (There is very little that can be damaged as this thing has very robust heavy steel parts.)Putting it together takes some study of both the instructions and the parts catalog. You must use both to carefully ID the bolts. A strong person can put it together, but if you think a part is too heavy for you then it probably is, so get help. (Wear heavy gloves, the crate is full of sharp staples.)It is difficult to figure out the amount of hydraulic fluid. The parts catalog lists the tank at 2.5 gallons (the only place that tells you anything)...I ended up putting more than that in after checking the dip stick several times.So now you can cut the crate up for kindling and you got yourself one really great log splitter.

Go slow on assembly, there's a lot of weight there. This splitter is a brute on splitting, to say the least. I had two problems on setup. !- there was a loose set screw in the clutch that caused the key to drop down and scrape the housing. 2-I still have a fluid leak in one of the lines. Not just a matter of tightening. I really hoped , for the price, I won't have to FIX things.

This is a great log splitter, but more impressive is the customer service. I had a shipping issue and a part had been damaged. Contact via Amazon email to the seller was excellent and the seller shipped a replacement part same day.The assembly is fairly simple, but when the unit arrives be aware there are three main components that you can separate in the crate and remove without having to try to lift what is a very heavy crate on its own.Once assembled the unit works really well and has no issue splitting large logs. Not dealing with noisy, hot gas engines is a joy!!

I had been looking for an electric log splitter for quite some time but Ram Splitter seemed to be the only company that made an electric that was even close in size and function to most gas splitters. I was about to pull the trigger on a Ram Splitter and then I Ran across Swisher. I love this machine. This splitter is absolutely identical in form and function compared to the gas splitters I've used in the past. It performs very well and the motor requires no maintenance just plug and play. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a bumper at the top of the piston stroke to push off logs that have jammed onto the wedge. If you have been considering an electric splitter I recommend this one.

Harder for me to maneuver manually than I expected because it’s heavy, although it’s very solid machinery and will last my lifetime. It’s very easy to operate safely. It cost more than I initially wanted to pay, but has huge value in savings on my back. The horizontal and vertical option is exactly what I need.

I bought electric to get away from noisy gas engines. So now I have a noisy electric motor. Have to wear ear protection. Customer service says it’s normal. Reviews mention how quiet they are. Don’t know who to believe .

Split 2 cords of wood, no problems so far, works great, no gas needed!
