Sarah's Silks Giant Rainbow Playsilk 3 Feet by 9 Feet Long

This is one of my favorite products from Sarah's Silks. Purchased for my grandchildren so they can use their imaginations and play with these silkscapes. Gets them away from the video games and TV for open play. Silk is a very sturdy material and can hold up to the wear and tear of children and multiple washings. Plus it just has a really nice hand and body feel to it too.May seem expensive but for the size. I have purchase silk yardage (8mm weight) and have hand rolled the sewed the hems and believe me it takes many hours to just hem a piece this size, much less dying it into a rainbow color, so for man hours alone you couldn't make this yourself for cheeper. I make my own only because I want colors that Sarah's Silks don't offer, like olive green and brown in the silkscapes, more for 6-7 year old boy colors than anything. The pastels are perfect for the girls, but the boys want something an little more dark I noticed. The dark blue with gold stars is also one of my favorites from Sarah's Silks and is great for all children.

Well, we have owned this for THREE years now and I think it's time I wrote a review. My 3 daughters play with this and their smaller playsilks nearly everyday. They are now 6 and 8, and imaginative make believe play is their life.They pretend it's a wedding veil, a dress, a cape, a river, a tent, Rapunzel's hair... This silkscape has been tied, twisted, wrapped, clipped, washed, and everything else under the sun and it still looks like a flowy, gorgeous piece of rainbow. We love all the playsilks, but there is something about this giant one that is just so mesmerizing. All the kids who come over want to play with it, and many moms have commented on how durable and beautiful it is. So, after three years I think it's worth every penny and I will be buying them a different color for this Christmas!

This play scarf has been played with in so many ways by my young kids. Definitely something that can be used for so many things. Capes, forts, even just running around with it. They love it so much.

This fabric is so soft and the colors are vibrant. I used this in a demonstration I did on what causes rainbows. Then I used it with my cousin who loved it so much she placed it on her head like a headscarf and then placed it on the floor to decorate it like a garden. This scarf seemed to inspire the imagination. Loved it.

We have dyed our own smaller (35"x35") silks for Easter, but I wasn't ready to take that on with a large silk of this size, and was so pleased to come across a good deal on the 9ft rainbow! We picked up additional play clips as well since both my kids (4 and 9) have been enjoying fort building lately and our other 4 clips weren't cutting it for their more robust forts- 8 clips seem to be good number! I myself am not sure on all of the uses for this silk, but my kiddos will no doubt find use for it as they have for all of their others. The highlight for me was taking it out of the package with their dad and gently floating it up and down together while our youngest ran underneath giggling and then started singing a song about a moon boat (I will have to check in with his teacher to see how they have been using this in the classroom as my son was already familiar with this silk!)... very thankful for these beautiful playthings! :)
